With a heavy and sad heart I want to report the loss of Pepsi, Ginger's adopted filly. Pepsi was struck by a car today and suffered two broken legs, she was only 18 months old. She was put to rest quickly. My heart goes out to member angelinmydreams for her loss, as well as Ginger and myself, Pepsi lived with us for 5 months during her weaning process and we loved her so. She will be greatly missed. Please keep her owner in your thoughts.

Condolences to everyone involved. Losing the little ones always seems to be the hardest.

I have not been on the board for awhile. I have been pre-disposed in my life. I saw that Ginger my adopted mom Wrote my horse very kind words. Thank you! Pepsi came into this world on April 20, 2006 and left it November 22, 2007. It has been very hard to handle. She was hit at about 5:30 on T-Day. It was not her fault nor mine that she had gotten out. The deer had torn out the fence that separates my pasture from the road and we did not know. We are assuming that the girl that hit her was speeding on the stretch in front of my home. From what my witness said she just hit her and then realized she had just hit my horse slammed on her brakes and then almost hit my friends mother head on. My neighbor came and grabbed me. I was on my way out the door to feed and put Pepsi back in her paddock I had turned her out to run with my other horses for the day. I ran down the road in my house slippers and saw that she had made it to the ditch. I sat with her holding her head in my lap and comforting her. It took forever for someone to call 911. When the ambulances arrived she tried to get up but her legs were snapped into literally. She tossed me to the side like a rag doll flat on my back on the road trying her hardest to get away from the loud noises. I called my vet and I could not get the emergency vet out for an hour I was livid just imagine what would be coming out of a mad person's mouth and times it by 3 and that was what the emergency service for my vet was hearing. The funny thing was is that my vet lives 5 minutes from me and they would not give me his number to come and put her to sleep. A nice man came forward before my hubby could get down with our gun and tractor, offered his 22 and my girlfriends step dad put her to rest for me. I had nightmares and I still get upset when I talk about holding her but I know she is in a better place now. I just don't understand who the hell this happened and what happened. I turned this in to my homeowners for the gal who hit her but I have not heard anything at all and it was been almost 2 weeks. I ordered the police report hoping to get some information. I don't even know her name or nothing. I was not given a ticket or citation . I am in the dark and it seems that know one cares about my horse and what I have had to go through. I know the girl who hit her was very scared and shook up but she only hit her. She did not have see or handle the situation. She did not have to shoot, bury and see what kind of damage that was done to my poor little filly. The more time goes by the angrier I get because I don't know what is going on. I handled my end of it and all I have to do now is wait. Wait and see if something is going to happen. I mean the car had minimal damage to it. My horses damage out weighed the damage to her car. I just don't get it. How can you hit something being a car, horse, cat or what ever and not give the person any information. I was hit in my car on the same stretch in front of my house in June. People don't care out here that there could be kids, horses, riders or so forth out here they just zoom up and down here like it is the Indy 500. It could have been a person or one of use on the tractor or what not. It is a little more important then it is just a horse blah blah blah. It does not make sense why the sheriff does not patrol this road. They would make their quota for the month in one day out here. How many wrecks does it take for them to see that they need to control the situation! I mean I almost hit the big momma dear down in the same spot where my horse was hit 3 weeks ago I was doing 35 and I was able to stop. Who knows. I am just aggravated. So for those who were curious that is what happened. Thank you for your kind words and prayers. Please don't mind the spelling.

I sure hope so. She knew I was there she kept burying her head in my legs and arms and her head was nestled on my knee. I think she knew.
