So any dressage followers out there besides myself and Schwung?
I just saw that Poetin was humanely destroyed..for all those who don't know why this is interesting: Poetin was the highest selling horse ever at the PSI warmblood auction in Europe. She sold for over 2.5 million Euro in 2003, was later reposessed by the financial lender to be sent through an executorial auction to recoup costs, Stolen and put into hiding by the (then) current owners to keep her from being sold, found and auctioned for 900,000 Euro this last September 1st and she as now been euthanized. I believe she was only six!
Talk about drama. All that was mentioned on Euro Dressage was that she had been suffering for 3 months by something undiagnosed and she will be sent in for necropsy.
there is amazing drama in the sporthorse world! Better than watching the soaps.

When stuff like this happens I always wonder about if the horse got to be a horse or was treated like a china doll? I think we all know the answer in this case.....
I still think turnout(or better yet living out with a shelter) is the answer to so many of today's equine problems...ulcers, chronic colic, tendon injuries, whiteline "disease" and on and on and on.......
She was an amazing mare.
May she rest in peace.

I have heard rumor of founder, but cannot confirm that. It was mentioned that she appeared sore at the auction in September. My personal .02 is that the prep that goes into preparing the young horses for the big european auctions can really lead to some long term problems both physically and with training down the road. It is a crying shame that she had to be put down, despite speculation, she was worth more alive than dead and it must have been something that was very hard to decide.

Thanks Jazzys mom, I'm glad to see that owner used humane methods for this Lovely gal and did not try recover some funds, to bad they(french who eat equines) dont have the same consideration of the rest of the worlds horses whether they are worth 2.5 mil or 20.00..

Poetin was euthanized due to severe laminitis. She was being kept in a sling and had begun to slough her front hooves. The press release is on Euro dressage..she came off the transport to the new owners already showing signs..what a horrible shame! A photo is also on the press release.
