Now that took a lot of patience.

Not the best dressage I have ever seen, but you gotta hand it to the guy for not having a saddle or bridle and doing all that! It reminded me a bit of Cavalia, cowboy-style. Not sure what was up with making the horse lie down, standing on it, and cracking a whip. That was just kinda hokey.

Just watched it! I admire and envy people who manage to develop such a relationship with a horse. They seem to enjoy each other so much. Schwung, did you see Cavalia? I saw it when it started touring 2 years ago, in Toronto, and instead of the 2 weeks initially planned, it stayed over 6 and was sold out at most shows. We really enjoyed it... and it was really nice to be able to meet Frédéric and his wife at the end of the show and have a long conversation with them... He is French, she is Spanish (I think)... their horses are very well looked after, and they try to get the horses to the next city early, book stalls in a stable and let the horses be horses for a while. They have already come back to Toronto, again sold out performances, but I could not go... In France, there is the Bartabas phenomenon... Cavalia is based on that too.

I saw Cavalia several times when it was in SF in 2004... I kept on going back with different friends. I loved it. I did the behind-the-scenes tour also - it was fun to see the horses up close after the show. I, too, thought of C. when I watched the video. I understand that they will be disbanding the show at the end of this season - I'm glad I had the chance to see it.
