Received a call this evening from the gentleman who rode Krickett last Sunday. His buddy, Roger, who took the photos of him riding Ms K. is bringing over hay for the horses tomorrow! So depending on what it is I will take some to Sarah and/or save it for Duncan. I will write the thank you for this if you all want. Or is there someone who already has taken on that duty? I would be happy to get the address. Geri

How generous.. maybe we can have thank-you note cards with our lovely logo at some point...shouldn't be difficult.
(And yes, I wish he would change his mind too....)

Keeping fingers crossed that maybe, just maybe, the wife will relent and he will change his mind... Krickett was so meant to go with him. And also a big, big thank you to his friend.

Maybe not a popular idea, but why can't we offer this gentleman a free lease? If her medical condition is the only thing standing in his way, I'd be willing to set aside some funds from All the King's Horses Benevolent Fund to help handle any future expenditures. Unless of course the location of her melanoma (girth area) is what is holding him back. That I can understand. I guess. (Maybe this belongs on her other thread?)

Gene and his son-in-law Roger brought out several bales of alfalfa which I took to Sarah's barn. Bryn, I think sending along the photos is a very thoughtful idea but Roger took the photos and I believe he already showed them to Gene. By the way Gene is tickled to be on the internet with Krickett. LDH-we spoke a bit more about Krickett. It seems that Gene checked in with his landlord after he went over our application and his landlord told him he can only keep one horse with the landlord's mules. So he is out of the picture for Krickett. But I couldn't resist asking him to finish our Azteca mare...He is considering it. He is a really great guy and horseman. I got Roger's address and will mail him a thank you. Is there a way to send a group thank you to his e-mail address?

I thought of K's friend when I read this today...
Some of you may not know but Gene Glasscock a 71 year old man has been riding to all state capitols for the last 3 years, a journey of 20,000 miles. He rode into the final capitol Columbus Ohio on Thursday. I spoke to him on the phone today and he said, "I'm tired." This is his second historic ride as he rode 12,000 miles in 1985 becoming the first to have ridden 12, 000 miles from the Arctic Circle in Canada to the Equator in Ecuador.
His spirits are high and now he begins on the writing of his book then he will return to work as a missionary and teacher to the youth of Paraguay.
Some of these "older" guys just keep right on riding. (Incidentally, he rode to all capitols of the 48 contiguous states... )

I remember him! He has a website if I recall. Ironic that they are both named Gene!

Gene Glassock a map there shows his route. I remember posts about him on BAEN when people were arranging to join him for his ride to Sacramento.

Your governor is a Taft? I hope he isn't one of my relatives (but likely is....).
