This guy (mustang) was supposed to have been part of a 30 horse seizure done by AC, but I'm having a hard time verifying much as he's unfortunately changed hands a couple times this year. Found him advertised on CL and will bring him home after I'm back from Kiger Fest. He's a bit thin and they've not been able to catch him since he rubbed his halter off. Rumor has it he's actually been ridden at some point, but currently he's very protective of himself and in dire need of hoof care. I went down yesterday with a friend who brought along his lariat. The paddock was too large for him to get a good throw, unfortunately. He's roped other wild ones in smaller spaces, but evidently that's how this guy was caught last time, so he knew to duck and run. Good news was that he decided I was the lesser of two evils and chose to come stand next to me where I was able to ease myself into a position of getting a halter on him! Hopefully he won't be rubbing it off between now and next week, but at least we know now that he's taken advantage of his situation down there rather than being truly wild (thankfully...) I think he's pouting...do you think he's pouting? ;D

He could be Tanner's twin!
Congrats on getting a halter on him. Hopefully he comes around in no time. I'll have to get some current pics of Tanner, they are eerily similar.

I think the mane is mostly knots and once it's detangled probably won't be so long. He does have a pretty long forelock, though.
I'd love to see pics of Tanner, jennywho.

Jenny, that's exactly what I thought. He looks just like Tanner, although even at the feedlot, Tanner was in better shape. He's going to be gorgeous. Pam

Golly, I can't believe how long it's taken me to get this boy here! We went down to pick him up yesterday, not sure what to expect in terms of leading him across the yard and loading up. He's got a history (recent, anyway) of not being able to be caught and it took them 2 hours to get him loaded when they brought him home. We'd left him with a halter on so the owner could catch and lead him, but she hadn't. She said she could hardly touch him after we left. But it didn't take more than an apple offering to get the lead snapped onto his halter, so I don't think she even tried. He led like a perfect gentleman out of the muddy paddock, across the yard and took one look at the trailer then jumped right in. From paddock to loaded in under five minutes! A three hour trailer ride later, I opened up the back door and the lamb jumped right in to check out what was new in the barnyard. The gelding didn't seem to mind in the least (thankfully!) The lamb is free range and I didn't seem him out there when we pulled it, so it was a surprise to me when he suddenly appeared ;D Again, perfect gentleman unloading and walking to his new paddock. He'd had no shelter where he was at and has a mild case of rain rot, and he's been losing weight. I'm going to run to the vet with a fecal sample shortly to see what the parasite load might be. The other horses were blanketed, so no clue if it's just him or everyone is thin. The hay they were feeding looked like a nice quality, but whether they were feeding enough is unknown. Anyway, here he is in his shaggy, skinny glory. Our little Kiger is starting to put on weight, so I'm hoping we'll be able to see a big difference in him as well within a few weeks time
