Wow, she is a naughty girl. If she wasn't a hormonal mess right now, I would say it is time for a "come to Jesus meeting".
Hopefully her hormones level out after that baby is born.

Rachelle, your love and kindless will turn things around for her. I just know it. But, be careful for now.

Okay so I'm totally stressing today and decide I need a few horsey hugs. Rhoen was nice and sweet, gave me some nuzzles, the pony Daphne wrapped herself around me as usual, Saheib tried to suck on my coat, sweet guy, DC tried to use me as a scratching post but allowed a hug, Hope gave me the evil eye but put her head against my chest, Bean was just Bean and just stood there and let me do whatever, Korey was all for some scratches, Nahima had to check my pockets for treats but let me lean on her a bit, and Adara... Well, Adara didn't want to be touched but put her head over me and just stood there - as long as I didn't touch her. AT least she didn't bite me The foal has moved too. I can now see the little feet poking at the top of the flank/hip area, so it's heading into position. Let's hope it stays there and doesn't drop back down again. Especially if things go not so good once this other horse gets here... Anyway, she seems to be doing just fine, ate all her grain mix again this morning. I'm going to add some probios into it tonight and see if that helps her some. Every once in a while she'll get the loose poo for a day or so. Then it goes away and she's fine. Hopefully, the probios will get that back on track once and for all. If I get a chance I'll take some more pics later. You can barely see her ribs at all now.

Adara is doing fine. Still no foal. She doesn't seem to mind that she has a new neighbor, they've been talking back and forth, which sets Rhoen off, which sets the rest off. It's gotten a bit LOUD around here lately. I didn't get pics, but everything is going fine. She does not like the probios paste so I'm going to try a different approach tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.

Okay, so I'm up there this morning filling water troughs and I realized my van was still parked by the barn... with the camera in it... yep, I got pics. Now the camera kept fogging up on me (yes it was that cold) so some of the pics look a little foggy but there they are. First, a couple of shots of her tummy. She's very cranky today so I didn't go into the stall, just reached my arm through or took some over the door... Here's an udder shot, sort of... Here are a couple of her sides, notice that her ribs are barely visible in any pic now! And a pic of her finally picking her head up.... she's been eating like crazy the last 24 hours or so...

Not just weight, but baby also! In that first picture she looks like a WIDE LOAD! I bet she's going to hold off a while, she's carrying that baby too side-to-side to be soon.

When I first got her, all her eating seemed to be going to baby only. Now though it seems to me that she's keeping a bit of the feed for herself and is starting to fill in nicely in alot of areas. Of course she's eating 3 times as much as the last pregnant horse I had here and is now wider than that horse was at the end. We'll see, I think she's got a bit more time, though the foal is trying to move into position so we figure once it manages that, things will go pretty quick. The foal seems to move mostly right at about dusk everyday.

Adara is getting spunky today. I went up to give her another flake of hay. No one gets worked with today, my daughter is home sick, but I figured I could spend a few minutes with her... She saw me coming and snorted at me. Well, I put the hay over the door and she starts tossing her head around. Then whirled a few times around the stall. I'm thinking 'What did I toss a rat in with the hay, or what?' She just kept doing it then she stopped and started prancing in place. It wasn't too graceful looking, but hey with that belly no one could be graceful. Well, that went on for a few minutes and then she gave a few snorts and her 'I'm going to get you talk' then quieted down and walked over to eat her hay. I'm thinking she was showing off and letting me know she was feeling good.

Has she been able to get out since you got her? I can imagine that it is difficult to let her out since she is not so tame

No, we can't lead her anywhere and the only place she could go (being pregnant) is to the dry lot - I'm fairly certain she hasn't had her rhino shots so she shouldn't be on pasture- but the dry lot is right next to the pasture with 3 horses in it and since she had to be quarantined, that was not an option. Her stall is actually two stalls (minus the divider) so it's not that small, but yep she needs to get out. I know horses are stalled 24/7 in some places but I would think that would not always be a good thing. At the same time- how do you lead a wild horse anywhere? We picked up a bunch more lumber yesterday and tonight we're going to work on a little run off the stall. That way I won't have to try to lead her anywhere but she can still get out a bit if she wants. And it will give me more room to work with her in. And at night we can still shoo her back into the stall. It won't be a real big one, but it will double the stall space with a little extra. There's just not room up there to do more and still be able to move horses around if we needed to. It may take us a few days to get it done. It's getting dark so early now... She's really feeling better now. She has more 'life' to her than when we got her. I can't wait to see her all fat and sassy - she's going to be a real looker.

Well, Adara still has not foaled. We're kind of surprised. The good news is that a friend of mine brought me an airmatress to sleep on, so it's so much more comfortable in my van now. She's starting to get her winter coat and now looks real fuzzy. All her wounds are now completely healed, she had a couple of good ones that took a while... Her back leg is much better, she favors it only occasionally now, and there's barely any swelling now. She's doing good. Now if she'd only foal....

How exciting Can't wait to see what the foal will look like. The bright side to not foaling yet is that the longer the wait, the more you time you two have to work on her bedside manner Good luck and hang in there!

Alright 2.5 hours of mare starin' with nothing but a few tail swishes, chewing noises, shifts of weight and other miscellaneous quirks. Rachelle, She needs to foal next time I come out which should be tomorrow night. Its getting too cold to go through standing outside like we did with Hope.
