very pretty fellow shame he ended up at the feedlot any idea why? any issues? Only the selenium deficiency that I can tell. He's a bit pushy on the ground, but we're working on that and he's coming along nicely. When he was in QT, they lead him around with a 7 and 11 year old girl on his back. He's a big teddybear as far as I can tell. As we all know, it's a mystery why many of them end up at the feedlot. It was so funny when he first came, George, my other TWH gelding turned into a real "Stud Muffin"...running up to Dollor, snorting, pawing the ground, protecting Cinnamon, etc. Now Dollor has decided that he wants to be George's best friend and just follows him around. George is becoming more accepting of it everyday. I think they will end up best buddies.

You really do never know why they end up at the lot. I have a great story about that - years ago I got a mare from an auction. The woman selling her said she wanted to be really honest with me and that the mare was crazy.
"Really," I said. "What does she do?"
"Well, we got her from this auction last time. (would have been about 3 months ago) I took her home and my husband tried to ride her down the size of the road and she threw him off and ran back to the barn."
I went up to the office and looked at the papers. The mare had run her last race 2 weeks before the spring auction and these ding-dongs had taken her home and tried to ride her down the side of the road. In, no doubt, a western saddle which she had never seen the likes of ever in her short life, and with a rider twice the size of anyone who had sat on her before.
Needless to say I bought her. She was true black, pretty headed, and well bred. She did turn out to have stringhalt (only apparent at the canter, sound at the trot) but I resold her to a farm that used her to breed to their warmblood stallion and do beginner lessons. True story.

He is really a handsome boy! I loooove black horses. Well, my fav color is black anyway, in clothes, you look thinner. I wonder if riding a black horse makes you look thinner as well . Lol, if that was true, black horses would become very pricey...

He's actually a very dark brown, but it's sometimes hard to tell him from our blue roan QT from a distance. In the feedlot photos he looked like a dark bay. Unfortunately, I think his dark color may make him look thinner, but makes me look fatter! Maybe I should stick to light colored horses. ;D

Hi all! It's been awhile, but I had to take a break. I'm posting on Dollor's thread, because the vet says he has ringbone. No X-rays were taken, but it appears to be lower. I've put him on B-L Pellets and he seems to be limping less. I've been considering Rapid Response and wondered if anyone had any experience or insight. What would you guys suggest? Thanks!

I know many people who have had good luck using a Natural Balance farrier with horses with ringbone. I would give that a try for sure!
