Hey, P!!! We're waiting to hear all about Lakota's adventures and the sport of duck dodging. ;D
How about you introduce Buster to all these nice folks, too??

Ok. I'l just paste her update here and delete her other new thread.
You probably want an update on the Little Paint Mare, aka, Lakota Sue. OK. She's doing fine but I gotta say, she ain't the brightest light in the hallway. A week ago she enjoyed her coming out party and spent a couple of quite nights with the big gelding. Friday, I introduced another big gelding to the mix and she decided she needed to whup 'em. Charged into them snortin and pawing, all puffed up. Apparently, the honeymoon is over. Just like a woman. Things are going along just fine until you invite one of your buddies over for a beer then all hell breaks loose. Well, she is only 14.2 and both these big guys are over 16 H and between 1200 and 1400 lbs. They cleaned her clock. Chased her around until she slowed down then bit a patch of hair off her butt. She was still unrepentant and ready to take 'em on so, to save her further a$$ whippin, I caught her and put her in a separate pasture. We'll try this again next weekend but I suspect this is going to take some time. Maybe she has a Chihuahua complex. Suggestions would be appreciated. Please make them really smart suggestions or I'll have to make stuff up about why I didn't follow them. ;D
Hey, it worked. If you delete the only post, it deletes the thread. Cool. Buster's intro will have to wait until after a nap.

Maybe she needs a pretty plaid sheet with silver buckles so the boys pay more attention to her than the beer! LOL

My paint mare Diamondindykin is a little mare with "short man's syndrome"!! She is all of 14.1 hands and she is alpha mare and runs the show except with my 16.2 hand Saddlebred Harley. He only takes so much from her and then "cleans her clock". If you find any good advice Slackreins please let me know! It must have something to do with being a short paint mare

My paint mare is a little bossy, wonder is it the mare or the paint. We have a couple of paints here and they seem to be a little more high strung than the quarters. Love that Lakota Sue though, she'll win ;D

The Little Paint Minx is spending her day with the big gelding (alone) and happy as a clam. Seems she's quite pleased to have him to herself. The sun is shining and birds are singing once again. <sigh>

LilDun, I've called her everything from Miss Priss to Knot Head. I tried all the ones you suggested. So far, nothing seems to hang on her for more than a few minutes. Something will come along eventually. I realized that you are the only one on this BB that knows anything about what goes on around here. Perhaps a little bit of self disclosure is in order. For those of you that are web literate, be kind. I'm a complete rookie at this. ANY suggestions about this would be appreciated. ( B, I updated it some.) Jaime, I hope this is OK. If not, please feel free to delete. home.earthlink.net/~pmtaylor50/

"Look deep into my eyes. Now, gimme a cookie"I rode the little paint mare for about 45 minutes yesterday evening. A lot of walking and changing directions with light direct rein. Took quite a bit of coaxing (clucking, kissing and riding forward) to get her past a fast walk. I don't want to bang on her with my legs since she is making such good progress with the trust adjustments. She's unsure of what to do but she's trying. We finally managed to get one full circle at the trot. For a little bitty thang, she covers ground well. We quit on that good note and celebrated with Berry Good treats. She obviously likes 'em. More to come....

This is the ducky post I started out in search of. Tonight's update on the little paint mare will be a brief pictorial. She did well outside of the round pen again this afternoon and the paparazzi was on hand to capture the moments (and call 911 if necessary ) She travels well on a loose rein at the walk... And at the trot. Then I brought out my secret weapon for horse training. DUCKS ! Ducks are easy to herd. I think it helps the horse... uh...er... focus. Anyway they were there so I used 'em to track around. If they ain't ready for a cow, use whatever you have handy.

Thanks for the comments about the site. Ya'll are too kind. C on Count with M&M. Chris, my older daughter, is on Count, the 22 yo gelding that is babysitting the LilPaintMare. Maya and Maggie are the dogs. The hill we are riding on is abut 1/2 mile from the house. Convenient and a good place to put some miles on a horse. The mountain in the background is Rattlesnake. I noticed the top of it was coated with snow this morning. That usually means it'll be here in a couple of weeks. UGH. Too early. I want more autumn before winter.

Hey Slackreins!
Just checked out the website. Love it! What kind of dog is Maggie? Is she one of those catalouha leopard dogs? Sure is a cutie! How is our friend LS doing?
