How do you carry phone, keys, etc. while riding?

What essential things do you carry while riding and how do you carry them? Especially in the summer, jackets with pockets are a little warm. I've seen the saddle pads with pockets but if you fall off, your phone and keys will be with the horse. What about a vest, is it too hot for warm weather? Interested in what works for you.

I have seen those things you strap on your leg, around the calf muscle. I think they are made my Cashel. That way, if you get pitched off, your stuff comes with you.
