I learned more about Tia today. She has had a hard time on alfalfa. And she's a very safe, kid friendly old girl. She's been in parades and carried a flag with no spook.

Caiti and I worked on her rain rot and gave her a thorough grooming complete with a pretty braided tail over the weekend. She tied in the stall very well and was practically falling asleep on us as we groomed her and showed us her funny face as we scratched all her itchy spots. We moved her to the small paddock next to Slam, Vanna and Tara so she could stretch her legs out a bit and enjoy the sun. Slam and Vanna were very gracious to their new neighbor, sniffing noses sweetly; but then Queen T came in to let Tia know that she is the boss That didn't last long until Tara realized that she needed to chase Vanna away from Slam. Ah, horsie attention spans. Tia was very content to stand in the shelter and watch the horses in the other paddocks. She'll look great once she gets all fattened up

Schwung~ Off topic of Tia, but the other Skok horses that need some help~~~~ I got pics of the tied up pony today and I'm having trouble sending and posting....
I didn't get pics of the stallion and gelding because they were out back. The pony was tied to a little tree for FOUR days during the weekend...6+ inches of rain. There is no food. The stallion and the gelding had the Skokomish River running through their pasture.
And how is Tia this week?
Thanks for everything!!

Hi Wally - I meant to talk to my friend today when he was out to help with the horses here but missed him before I went to work. I will give him a call tomorrow. You can email the photos to me at jaime@safehorses.org. Not sure WE can help (as we are pretty full), but my friend is pretty resourceful and may be able to at least get someone to go out there.

Tia had a recheck today on her eyes and they look much better. The ulcer in her right eye is now healed and there is no more discharge out of either eye. The eye specialist does not feel that she is in any discomfort in the blind eye and no further action is needed, but she may have further flare-ups of the uveitis so if she develops runny eyes again, may need to have eye meds again.

Hi Wally - do you know if the three other horses are on the reservation or in general Mason County?

Mason County. In the Valley.
I'll send the pics of the pony in a bit. I took in a foster dog and she's keeping me VERY busy.
I still haven't got pictures of the gelding and stallion because they've been in the back. Pony is STILL tied up.

Pics sent to the jaime's email.
I'll attempt more this week when the other 2 are closer to the road.

Hi wally - my friend is going to try and get down there early this week. If it is Mason County getting action taken may be harder so pictures of the other two or the pony without a blanket is helpful. If the authorities won't take action then there is not a lot the rescue groups can do if the owners won't cooperate, except maybe try the media which probably wouldn't work unless the horses were in truly awful condition. We'll keep trying though.

How's Tia doing? I'm excited to hear about her.
As far as the other Skok horses go~ the pony that was always tied up was moved to a pasture near by.
And the other 2 have been blanketed and people have been dropping food by. The owners haven't had much food (if any at all) for them, but the animal lovers in the valley seem to always pitch in.
Just annoying to drive by them and see all of their water buckets tipped over and they're standing in muck 6-7'' deep.

Tia is doing good, she seems stocked up on her right hind but she doesn't favor it or move lame on it.
I put her in the arena for a bit last night with Slam and Vanna and she rolled and ran and bucked with the two of them. She is very vocal and has quite a distictive holler when she knows its dinner time. I'll try to get some new pictures of her this weekend.

Tia has gone over to NWESC, mainly due to us needing to move some horses around and her needing the extra care a bit more than Nadia who is now in a foster situation up in Stanwood until she is at a healthy enough weight to go into training.

Thanks for the update. It's great to hear her having fun! I've passed it on to the neighbors.
The peeps with the other hungry horses down the valley road just had their children taken from them yesterday. So, the law is involved.

Children first, then the horses. This is a good first step.
