After a brief stint at a boarding facility Lexi is back here with me. I will be having her yearly vet visit done along with my 2 girls and we will be re-evaluating her feet with new x-rays to compare with the last set taken quite a while ago. Once this is all done we will determine what the next step is with her, be it training, a new foster home or possible adoption.

I hope things turn out OK of Lexi, she is so sweet and (except for those feet) a nicely built girl. How is she doing on the ground?

I just read all of what has gone on with Lexi. I hope the x-rays show it is atleast a little better. I just wish I could see these pictures at work!

Such a pretty girl... can't wait to hear how she's coming along. She'll be a great horse for someone someday.

Lexi was seen by Dr. Hannah yesterday to evaluate her soundness and ability to be started under saddle. We had xrays taken in 2005 and then again this spring by NW Equine for comparison purposes. Armed with her xrays, Dr. Hannah did flexion tests, trotted her in straight lines and in circles, and determined that Lexi showed NO SIGN of lameness! Lexi has been given the green light to start in groundwork training, and can be started under saddle after a couple more trims to get her feet back where they need to be. The only concern with Lexi right now is her weight, she is a bit on the tubby side. Given that she is a pony plus she has those feet issues, she needs to lose some weight and come off the pasture she is on, which is 5 acres of grass she shares with only one other horse. So, she will either be moving to a new foster home or going to be introduced to the grazing muzzle. Here she is a couple of weeks ago, with her pasture buddy "Willy":

Yay for Lexi! One step closer to being a wonderful horse for someone. I am excited for her. And as for her home... well, sign me up... it looks so nice, I almost want to live there!

What encouraging news! ;D And such a cute face...
Most of the mares where I board wear grazing muzzles since they live in a lush pasture, and do really well with them, except for one crafty pony mare who is able to shed hers. (She's now in a pen with no grass.)

I visited Lexi this past weekend and she is still chunky and is getting her fuzzy winter coat which does nothing to help her look slimmer. She spends her days in a pasture with Rhythm and Willy a QH gelding. She is still very sweet, but preferred to graze over socializing with me.

Here are some photos of Lexi from last July (yes, I have been very bad about downloading my photos off my camera). She's doing great, although she did have an abcess a few weeks ago (she's fine now).
