Katie is a 23 year old black, unregistered Percheron mare. She is 16 hands and weighs approx. 1800 lbs. Her owner has lost her job and is unable to care for her two horses any more and desperately needs to find Katie a home. Previously, Katie was used as a show hitch horse and is broke to drive, although has probably only been driven as part of a team. She has a docked tail. She is also broke to ride. She has not been ridden for 2 years or driven for 8 years. She has an old injury to her left hind pastern but would be ok for light work with joint maintenance. Katie is UTD on all routine care including vaccines, dental float March 2010, farrier care and worming. Other information about Katie provided by her owner: - Katie ties, trailers, clips, bathes, blankets, and lunges. Gentle to groom or handle, not spooky - Currently eats hay along with soaked grain, bran, beet pulp, flax seed and orchard grass pellets. Will chew wood if hungry. - She currently receives MSM and a joint supplement as well as psyllium monthly. - She has a history of colicking after being wormed so the owner recommends probiotics to be given when wormed - Very sensitive to dusty hay and dusty hay should be wet down or soaked - Generally very calm and patient mare, can be herdbound - Alpha mare in pasture, will not share food - Current owner has had her for 7 years, she was purchased from a horse dealer. Katie is located in Oak Harbor, WA. Adoption fee is $250 for Katie or $600 for both Katie and Charmeon (preference is they be adopted together).

KATIE is still in need of a home! She has been in training the last few months and has been ridden in the arena and trail by riders of all levels. The trainer would rate this horse safe for smaller beginners as long as someone that has physical size that can handle the horse is there, just because the horse is so big. The owner has lost her job and her farm and sold her furniture to pay for board and training on her two horses. Here's another photo of her:
