Hi everyone, Here are the preliminary numbers for the 2010 show. These are not final because I don't know for certain that I have all the income and expenses accounted for. Bottom line, we did great! I provided numbers to compare to previous shows www.safehorses.org/photo_pail/show finances.jpg[/img] please note: expenses include stall fees, which were collected as part of the entry fees and paid back to Donida Farm.

That's awesome! Did you have many more participants, or did the participants just show in more classes?

Wow those are big numbers!!! What kind of comments are coming back from the feedback page? Two day show next year maybe?? I definitely think Donida is the perfect venue for this, should we go ahead and reserve it for next year?? I'd be happy to play Liason again ;D

I am pretty hugely in favor of a two day show at Donida next year! The large majority of people who have filled out the feedback form say they'd attend a two day show. One of the main comments that we're getting about this year's show is that it ran too late, so I'm thinking that putting English classes on one day and Western on the other will make our days much shorter.
I would love for you to be liason again. It may not be too early to start looking at dates for next year. ;D

I was going to suggest Donida two years ago but I sort of slacked off. Gwen, Don and Ida (see the connection) would like Donida to be the main Seattle area horse show attraction. All the shows (except maybe Jan/Feb/March) are big draws of outside folks.
I was surprised to see how may folks braved the rain and still the turn out was good. Donida might be more expensive overall, but if the returns are there, and it's good for the rescues, I'd put it at the top of the list.
When I boarded there the summer shows attracted tons of people (W/LQ trailers & horses).

When I boarded there the summer shows attracted tons of people (W/LQ trailers & horses). I did their winter schooling series (which is really fall/winter/spring) and it was very well attended. In fact it was the inspiration for the way we handled some of our show this year and it worked out great. They don't have as many of the BIG events during that time but it was a great way to keep focused in (what's normally) the off season. I also love that it's within 20 minutes of my house & barn. On a completely new subject in relation to the 2011 ( proposed 2-day) show. If I could get the Parrot Heads to plan & present it, would we be interested in a Saturday night party w/live music for the overniters or other folks who'd like to just come out and have some fun? We have access to some very fun artists that have a broad appeal (ok, Tropical Rock...Jimmy Buffett-esgue) but it could be a completely separate avenue of fundraising, attracting Parrot-heads for an afternoon/evening of fun...perhaps!?

Now THAT would be something - a combo exhibitor/volunteer party!! I really like the idea of a 2-day show, too.
Do you guys who were there this year think there was roughly equal attendance/interest in English and Western classes, or...? Just curious how numbers might break down.

We had the Bi-Annual Parrot Heads of Puget Sound business meeting today and they like the idea of hosting a party the evening of event day #1 of the proposed 2-day event and have a preliminary list of people who'd like to help organize it..they even came up with a Name (because they like to name all their events): "Cowboy in the Jungle" after a Jimmy Buffett song. The awesome thing is that t could potentially help off-set any additional day fees for the second day as I'm sure there are additional costs for using the facility a second day. They are really good at eating events and it could be a huge welcome from folks staying overnight for the second day. Also....connected but not related to the party. They approved a $250 sponsorship donation even if the party doesn't work out. So you have your first official 2011 Show Sponsor!!
