Let the donations/gathering begin!
My FABULOUS husband, Les, has agreed to be our official Prize Drawing Guy. He, however, does not do "message boards" but he's very enthusiastic come show day!
He will set up the tent (perhaps with some volunteer help?) and run the raffle that day but it's going to take some nifty prizes to get the raffle tickets moving at a high rate of speed....so.....
Please everyone, check with your family, friends & business contacts for donations. This can be an alternate way to support the show if they can't do a sponsorship donation. Many businesses will donate goods or certificates before they'll make a cash contribution. Although they might not be advertised in the show program I would encourage anyone who wants to promote their business to make sure to include a business card in their donation package so that we can thank them on the prize list.
What makes a great donation? Pretty much anything.... Here's a list of suggestions...but I think we're pretty flexible so folks can get creative:
Horse Gear
Gift Cards/Certificates: Dining, Spa, Vet/Farrier/Training, Store, Services, etc...(what I wouldn't give to have a show/professional groomer give my pony the star treatment!..hint, hint!)
Apparel
Artwork
Tickets: Sports, theater, movie, concert, museums, etc...
Travel Packages
Gift Baskets: any type (also donate smaller items that we can make into baskets)
Please remind your donors that we will be happy to give them a receipt.
I will collect these items at my shop in Fife until Show day. I can usually meet up with folks and in any given week, I might end up in any odd place, so PM me and let's set something up. Typically though, I tend to stay in Federal Way, Fife & Auburn.

Does anyone have any more items for the Drawing? Even if you can't get it to us before show day, it would be nice to know what's coming so we can print up a list to have on hand.
Les & I are happy to meet up with anyone who would like to get their prize donation off their hands. Please feel free to PM me if you'd like to set that up.
I have the offer of an English Saddle that has not been picked up yet and a Lesson Package. I will update the list as we get these confirmed.
We have a few fun things, but I'd like to see MORE PLEASE ;D

has anyone postered/approached Hickey Feed (formally Pro Horse) or K&S Saddlery yet? They both donated last year and I see that Hickey has been trying to reduce their English apparel stock, perhaps they'd like to donate a show coat and shirt or two???
If no one else has gone there, is there anyone who has a good relationship with either that could approach them asap?
Last year K&S gave us a nice English & Western High Point package! We'd love to have them do it again and get it in time to include them in the thank you's in the program...

I have to go there tomorrow and will see what i can get. i will also get over to K&S and a few other places on my list. Also seeing about sponsorships and vendors at the same time.

I can donate some Anthousa home fragrance diffusers again this year. I'll bring them to the show because they're glass and there's always a chance they will break if I try to mail or courier them. www.anthousa.com/

THANK YOU I also got a confirmation on the English Saddle today on a funny side note.... My husband is throwing a golf tournament next Friday and came home with the news that Lexus of Tacoma is sponsoring a hole at the tournament for $500!!!! HEY, that could have been MY sponsor find.....I feel like I'm in competition with him for prizes and such!! I might have to steal his list ....bwahahahah (and don't think I'm above it!)

there is a mountain of *golf* prizes in my living room right now....and it's really tempting to see what might work as a horse show prizes but somehow it seems less than appropriate to include alcohol prizes (tshirts, key chains, lite-up necklaces, etc...) for a family-friendly event but, it's tempting...
perhaps NEXT year Mr. Coconut will use his powers for ponies not putters! (and to be honest, he's more of a drop off point than the instigator) I am still having serious Prize Envy though !!!

I've updated the list of drawing prizes above in this thread. I'm hoping that there will be more from some of the vendors that will attending.
If any of you have items you'd like to donate, please let me know.
We're also going to try something a little different this year in regards to the drawing; something we've used at several Parrot Head events that has worked really well...
Individual drawings....all raffle tickets will be sold for $2 (we could make some multi-ticket deals like 7 for $10 & 15 for 20) but each item will have it's own bag to deposit your tickets into and that way you only put yourself into a drawing for items you're actually interested in. You can put a few tickets in several or LOTS of tickets in one items you REALLY WANT! ;D
Les & I were talking about it and think that because there are several "sized" items and other things like tack that some non-horse people may not want, putting their tickets towards something they do want makes much more sense.
We plan to pull all raffle tickets at 4pm so that they will be done before closing awards, that way (Hopefully) everything takes their winnings home with them.

Hey there, I haven't been on these boards so I had no idea you were in charge (or to post here) but I am bringing 1) Starbucks Gift Basket (value $60) 2) My trainer (Kim Gately, Gately Training Center) has donated 4 Haul In Training Sessions for horse and rider (value over $200). My printer is dead as a duck but I will bring in some sort of cute notecard or something for her Lesson Gift Certificate. I'll bring them tomorrow when I come out. hugs, Susan
