I agree, wherever Lil Miss goes; she needs a job. But that said, she really is a sweetheart of a horse and she absolutely loves to be doted on. I called to her in the pasture, she was way out with the other mares, and she walked all the way up to me; ears perked as if to say "really? are we gonna go do something?"
It would be cool to leadline her in the show, but I think all Leah is going to do is the walk/trot rescue horse classes with her.

These latest pics are amazing! I wish you could have seen these horses when we(animal control) picked them up.....
They were on a beautiful but terribly run down piece of property in Maple Valley. I remember being there many years ago and it was run down then......the owner was in his 90's and had no running water to the property or his house when we picked these horses up. They had an elaborate system of home made gutters to catch rain water that drained into rusty tubs for them to drink. Little Miss looked bad but she had some weight to her. The Paint Dolce also was in good weight but the gray and Cedar were awful. The gentleman had gotten Cedar and Miss and the Gray off the track and stated that they had been on the property ever since. So the aptitude that they show under saddle is incredible to me. He was poor many years ago when I was there and I cannot imagine he had any training money for these guys since then, but I suppose a neighbor or friend may have contributed.
I believe that Little Miss may be registered as Miss Mack or some form thereof- but that is what the grandson remembers and he cannot remember if that was a nickname or her real name.
Thank you to SAFE for helping these mares. They were in desperate straights and if not for SAFE they would have gone to the auction in a matter of days per the King County Livestock ordinance. Now they have a bright future and I hope someone will fall in love with them at the show.
Has anyone thought of contacting training barns to see if any students are looking for prospects? I know the adoption rules are necessarily strict but they are youngish mares of good size that might not be outgrown.........

I've not ridden her since the aforementioned trail ride, but she has bonded to her b*tchy-broodmare pasturemate, Jasmine. They are seen cavorting around the big pasture at Jaime's, pleased that they have the biggest pasture all to themselves. She is as cute as ever!! (b*tchy-broodmare is meant with endearment )

"There's nothing wrong with this horse," he said.... ;D

True, Jasmine was a super star for Dennis, and surprised us all. But a couple of weeks ago she had to get her feet done. First we had to catch Little Miss and use her as bait to catch Jasmine, and had to hold on to her nearby to babysit her. Jasmine was relatively good for the first three hooves, and then decided there was no way in heck the farrier was even going near her right hind (there's nothing wrong with it, she was just DONE), so she pulled her now-famous "I'm outta here" stunt where she just suddenly bolts and rips the lead rope out of your hands and will plow you over if you don't get out of her way. Caught her again using Little Miss as bait again, and then spent 30 minutes with her dancing around as Daphne just tried to TOUCH her hind leg (and trying her bolt manuever a couple more times, but Daphne was on to her this time). Daphne finally quit after Jasmine finally relented to letting Daphne pick it up and hold it for 3 seconds. Daphne still has to come back and do that last foot. So yeah, nothing wrong with the horse, except she's just a little bit mental. Seriously though, she's just an old broodie that's gone unhandled for way too long. She'll come around.

Funny you should mention that, Met. I swear some horses do have a preference on handlers. Like somehave bad experiences with men (or women or children) and seem to be more untrusting (or more trusting) of certain sexes.
B*tchy-broodmare is a badge of honor, and Jasmine wears it well!!

I got the pleasure of riding Little Miss this weekend. She was a super star. She is going to make someone a wonderful mount. She was not totally sure of her job, but moved off of my leg and responded well to most of what was asked of her. What a wonderful girl!

I am glad you are riding her, she sure needs it. I don't think she had been out for a ride since I took her out in August!

Allison - don't forget the show! She was at the show, but she hadn't been ridden since due to the focus on winter paddock preparation and because she had an abcess in there and had to have a shoe pulled. She's finally back and ready for work!

She is very forward and willing! Such a complete love! I told Jamie last week, if my paddock wasn't a muddy disaster that I can't afford to fix... ... I would foster her in a heartbeat! Lady is switching back & forth between stalls right now to minimize mud... the facility just can't have two horses, at least for my standard of care! I want to overhaul the paddock but it would cost at least $2500 to do it right. And given that it isn't my property - well - there isn't much of a return!

Jaime- if you want someone to put a few rides on her this winter so she doesn't just sit, I would be happy to do some w/t/c stuff with her on my sundays at your place.
