I've been guided to a few online resources to both attract and reward volunteers.
The first site: ALL FOR GOOD
www.allforgood.org/
matches up volunteers with opportunities. It appears to have a 10 opportunity minimum and as I well know we have more than 10 things that need to be done at any given time.
Of course...
*Daily chores at Jaime's
*Project heads for fundraising ideas
*Support volunteers for events like: Poker Ride, Horse Show, HeART of the Horse, etc....
but please share with me ideas about what kind of things volunteers might be able to do? Some of the things I saw other organizations post were things like graphic support (which we have several folks who help out already!), legal services, technology support, etc....
Maeve suggested we get a finance/grad student to do a project on the costs of rehabing & ongoing care for horses to use in promotional work... any more ideas???
On the other end.....once you've volunteered....there are organizations like
SOMETHING TO GIVE - www.somethingtogive.org/index.html
where donations of rewards (trips, services, experiences, etc...) can be earned by putting in volunteer hours. There are some rockin' prizes like
*A Speaking Roll in a Film
*Watching Batting Practice at Safeco field
*Jon Daily Show VIP tickets and tour
etc.....
You can even submit your "dream" rewards as well...
And...I'm working on another 'reward' for 2010...hopefully it will motivate LOTS of folks to help...
I will say this all takes tracking and organization and I may need an assistant Volunteer Coordinator/tracker...maybe...maybe not!?!?
Anyway....think about both & lets get something going. The more we can DO & the LESS we have to SPEND...the better the organization will run!
