The ponies are tucked in their stalls and TIRED from their big day of trail riding. I know ... I know...it's not the trails that some of you do but for our greenies it might as well been an endurance ride. It was certainly the longest ride THEY've ever been on but they had a great time and so did WE!!! I can't say enough about the volunteers who put this event together. I'm not sure if you know what a delight it was to come to an event and just "participate"!!!!! The ground work (to make sure they were listening) in the beginning was anything but calm but in no way indicated how well they did on the trail. Rolo thought the girls were cute but WAY TOO SLOW!! But that's girls for ya! He had to say Seeya Babes...and scamper off on his merry way but in the end it was a FABULOUS time! I have to say that winning lots of stuff was fun Every one of my 3 hands won something!! Can't beat that ;D I'll post some photos but I'm going to go hang out with Mr. Coconut for a bit and warm up. Can't wait to do it again in Spring ;D ;D

Thank you so much for organizing this event, PK; it was so well run and I had a great time. I wish I could have helped more, but Annie doesn't tie at the trailer reliably so I babysat her. I didn't see you, but I did see your horse and he is so gorgeous!

We really had a fun time today- a big thank you for those who put this together! What a great place to ride trails for those of us who don't get out much, and it was just the perfect winter day!

My friend Deb and I had a great time today. Deb got to do the ride twice and I did it 1.5 times (sorry for getting us lost Jamie!) It was a nice ride for my TWH that I'm rehabbing and also a good experience for the little black Morgan. Oh and Jamie, I was wrong, Skywalker won the Breeders Cup Classic and the Longacers Mile, not the Kentucky Derby. Just had to look it up when I got home.

My girls and I had a blast!-so glad we made it-(when so many things seemed to conspire against our morning) Funny thing-when hubby was hooking up the trailer the 30 year old mare was nickering and running up and down her paddock-she doesn't get out much and this ride was perfect for her-even though my daughter had to keep reining her back. Thanks to all you guys for your hard work putting this together-was a perfect first poker ride :-)

Coconut/Jet - Great pics!
The people at the first poker station are my mom, Cheryl and my sister, Kristin - what a cute picture! I am so thankful to them for bundling up and braving the cold to man that station for 4+ hours!!

I just want to thank pk, classy, and all the other volunteers that worked so hard to put on this spectacular event for SAFE! Without the hard work of all of our volunteers and supporters, SAFE wouldn't be where we are today. And it was so nice to be able to just attend an event as a participant and not have to do all the work! But I know how much work this was to put this on, so THANK YOU!! It was a great reason to finally get Annie out and see how she does and after some initial nervousness she did GREAT! (wish I could say the same about my boy...he was a bit of a handful, but he hadn't been off the farm in a few years so I guess he gets one free pass for being nutty). Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Another wonderfully successful SAFE event! Kristi, you are amazing. Thank you for stepping up and making the event look seamless. It was such a pleasure to float around and hear all of the positive comments. I didn't get to meet everyone, but I saw the team of volunteers working so hard and it showed. I did have the pleasure of getting to know Monica, who has some MAD coffee service skills and Trevor, who was at the ready to take care of whatever loose end needed to be tied up. I think Craig has now achieved the life goal of most pizzas in the trunk of his car. Thanks to all who worked so hard to make this even happen.

Thanks Wendy, but its obvious from the number of photos I took exactly how hard I was really working... I took on any task that involved running around just so I could grab some shots on the way! www.facebook.com/pages/Horsebytes/122967233300There was actually lots of time to have real conversations too, and not just with other SAFE people. I talked to a couple future volunteers and riders who were interested in helping SAFE - thats evidence that events like this have a huge value beyond just the dollars raised. I was very impressed with the determination shown by Kristi and her team, not to mention how many nice prizes they had to offer!
