Re: the truck dealership...I am going to give Jet Chev a few days to have their meeting and decide but I think we'll know one way or another by Monday & then let's proceed from there.
Once we have the Presented by Sponsor, I think that will help us get other's to sign up when the burden of the high end sponsorships are out of the way. I think it kind of gives the others a more comfortable level to donate.

there really isn't a deadline for sponsorships but particularly for the upper level sponsorships, if they want their name on the posters, they have to be nailed down before the posters are printed. If they are okay with not being on the posters, then they have until the week before the show, in order to be in the show program. If they are okay with not being in the show program, then they have until the day of the show. Heck, they can even sponsor after the show is over. We do announcements about our sponsors during the show, so last minute additions have that.

Hey Bonnie,
I heard back from Reber Ranch. They are willing to donate either a $50 gift certificate or a $50 class sponsorship. Which would you prefer?
Thanks, Wendy

Jet Chev was a NO...so I'm on to Sunset Chevorlet in Sumner...and lets all cross our fingers for that...meanwhile I would suggest contacting the feed companies. It appears the auto folks are feeling very uneasy right now but I'm going to continue to work that angle.

It appears that the auto dealers are all like minded. Everyone's counting every last penny and don't apparently have funds for extras like community support. So if anyone has any great ideas about the *Presented By* sponsorship, I'd say anything's worth a try, we only have two months left....

Sponsorships in this economy could be a bit difficult, but once the potential sponsor realizes what excellent advertising they will get from our show, they may decide to participate. Being a business owner, I know we get requests for donations DAILY, and have to be very choosy. The ones we usually go for are the ones closest to our hearts, and the ones that offer us the best bang for our buck.
I have been contacting the local feedstores, my farrier friends, boarding stable owners etc. Trainers and boarding barns may be good places to look. If anyone knows someone who runs a nice boarding/training facility and who is in the market for more business, that may be a worth while place to start. Also, farriers, veterinarians, dog grooomers (most horse people have a dog!).
I will continue to work around the Graham, Spanaway area. Has anyone contacted K&S Saddlery yet? The show will be here before we know it!

I did go out to K&S and they don't do cash sponsorships but did donate two nice High Point English/Western Prize packages.
I'm also going to hit up my trainer, farrier and boarding barn too... I was talking to Les over dinner about this tonite and he thought the TRUCK folks would have been a great option too...disappointing but understandable.
I recently saw a one page story in a magazine...I think it was Woman's day or something like that at my friend's house...anyway it was a small story on Mary Tyler Moore who has several rescued horses of her own...wouldn't it be great to get some support like that!? Aren't there any local celebs who also love horses who would like to show up??? Maybe play for us??? William Schatner does his own Celeb Horse show every year in LA...it would be cool to have an endorsement like that too ... anyway, my brain is thinking, thinking thinking... maybe sparking a thought for some of you who might have connections as well.
...I do have a friend, who has a daughter who likes horses, I hear...who also happens to be a morning radio personality. I'm just not sure how that would work...unless of course we could get the station to be the sponsor...KZOK presents!?!?!? Or perhaps their sister station, KMPS (who I just realized I may have a contact there as well....) good grief....I better get working....but DON'T let my ADD stop anyone from working another angle...

Great ideas! I once sat next to Shirley MacLain (sp??) at the Tacoma Unit at an Arabian show. I wonder if we could find some sponsors at the Celebrate The Horse? I would imagine that people like Barb Apple might like to at least have an ad in the program. Unfortunately I can't attend as I have to work that weekend, but for those who are there, it may be an opportunity to make some contacts.

Have you looked at contacting local Scout (boy and girl) troops to sponsor? They also may be able to provide ribbon runners/ring stewards which may be able to be used for them in helping to earn badges. I don't know how it is now, but all of the scouts I knew did community support fundraisers/events. Maybe we could get SAFE adopted by one of the local ones? How about local grocery stores, etc? My mom's group usually gets all the food donated to our annual picnic, maybe we could get something like that for concessions? Dental Offices also like to sponsor things so local ones down there may be a possibility as well.
I will rack my brains for more possibilities. Is there going to be a raffle? If so contact the companies direct - Rambo, Mountain Horse, etc directly to get them to donate products. Maybe saddle or tack companies like Wintec, etc. Eqyss hair products used to donate lots of competitor goodies to a show I helped gather sponsorships for - and while that doesn't directly bring money in, it keeps competitors happy and coming back year after year. Does anyone work for Boeing, Microsoft or Amazon? Do they do local support things? My husbands company used to but no longer does that I know of. How about Starbucks? If I think of more I will post them.

In an interesting coincidence I'm going to be working with a scout troop in September to help them work on their Horse Fan badges. The leader told me that scouting is done for the summer, as I recall it does run along side the school year...But I really liked the idea of inviting scout troops out to watch the show, just to have some audience

Sponsorship Income raised to date: $450 $700
Last year's show expenses: $2,308.35
We're in a bit of trouble here folks. I can cut expenses somewhat but there are some items we can't do without.
Show ground rental: $150 Show ground deposit: $200 (we'll get this back, hopefully) Insurance: (approx $200) Ribbons: (approx $300) Trophies: (??) Printing & Supplies: (approx $200) Shirts: (??) Advertising: (??)
I can trade Horses Inc a show sponsorship in exchange for an ad, but that would be the only pub we could advertise in. In the past, we've put ads in Northwest Rider too.
If every one of us could nail down a $100 sponsorship, we'd be in the clear. Can we make that our mission? It shouldn't be too hard to ask for $100 to support such a great cause. And it's tax-deductible!
