Okay, it's time to start approaching businesses who might be interested in becoming sponsors for the show. There are enough of us working to support this show that if we each approach 1 person we know who runs a local business and ask them to get involved, we should have more than enough sponsors. Sponsorships are tax deductible, and a great way to increase exposure to horse people in the community! Okay we really need to get rolling on sponsors! We need to get posters made soon and they usually include the names of the three major sponsors, so we have to figure out who those are.
Would someone be willing to approach Northwest Equine to see if they'd want to be a major sponsor since they are located near Graham?
How about the Graham Hay Market?
Other possible businesses in the area:
Renton Western Wear Reber Ranch - honeydofarm to approach Lazy K Tack & Feed, Auburn Mike's Western Supplies, Enumclaw Country Farm & Feed, Enumclaw King Feed, Enumclaw Sumner Animal Grub Centerville Western Store, Tacoma Performance Horse Gear, Spanaway Professional Horseman's Supply, Puyallup Lincoln Hardware, Tacoma American Western Tack, Graham Webster Rd Farm & Feed, Graham Olsen Mills Hayes Feed & Country Store, Seattle Kiperts Corner, Olympia - crickert to approach The Tack Room Too, Tumwater The Issaquah Grange - honeydofarm to approach
Any others in the area that we should target?
Volunteers to go talk to these businesses??

What about a Truck Dealership? one that specializes in Heavy Duty Trucks like Sunset Chev (it's kinda local for the show, right?) or Jet Chev (I have to LOVE the name!...plus I saw they had one of those $uper $piffy Ranch models when I was shopping for a new vehicle a year ago) or Good Chev....they have a very large Truck division. Hey, I just noticed that I know all the Chevy dealerships but I drive TWO Fords, including my truck!? huh....I'd go back and ask my truck dealership if they were interested but ... they're gone Unless anyone has an IN with a dealership, I could contact them. I used to work as a fleet manager so I kinda speak "auto"

I can go to Reber Ranch. I can also go to the Issaquah Grange. I just got some hay from Iron Horse and they are pretty much run out of a room outside of the hay storage, were just recently purchased and appear to be running on a shoe string.
Are you talking about Northwest Equine Vet owned by Dr. Latimer? If so, they are here in Maple Valley. I'm not a client anymore since my vet went out on his own.
Do any boarding facilities ever sponsor? Could be a good way to drum up business in this economy.

Jet - I love the idea of getting a truck dealer to sponsor. If you would be willing to pursue that idea, that would be wonderful!!
Wendy - thank you for taking on Reber and the Grange!! I'll take Iron Horse off the list. And yes, that is the Northwest Equine I was referring to.

Bonnie, I can scout the Gig Harbor area, do you have any promo materials you can send me. Also, count us in for at least a 50$ sponsorship, here at The Harbor Kitchen. Depending on when you need it, and if business picks up, I am hoping we can do more. Also, if you have a poster, etc, we can post here at the restaurant, send that too. -cherri

I had an interesting morning of sponsorship shopping today... I stopped into K&S Saddlery to drop off the sponsorship packet and while they don't do cash donations, I walked out with an arm-load of High Point English & Western Prize donations... THANK YOU Ken and the great staff at K&S. Then I wandered over to Pro Horse Country and Cheryl, who had previously told me she'd LOVE to support the show somehow has offered a gift certificate to EVERY Class....so all Blue Ribbon Winners will be getting a $5 certificate to them...and they're combine-able so enter and win lots of classes and get some really great stuff from Pro Horse! Thanks Cheryl!!! ...and for my big-cross-yer-fingers-and-hooves news....I met with one of the owners of Jet Chevorlet in Federal Way and while he explained that things are really tough in the auto industry right now, he did take my packet, highlighted the website to look it up later and promised to present it at their Advertising/promotions meeting on Friday! I was very enthusiastic and explained how awesome a partnership SAFE/JET CHEV could be...so at least they're thinking about it....think good thoughts folks!!! We need this ;D I also had a flat out "No" and wouldn't even look at the packet from a local trailer business. The economy's tough on lots of folks so I'm trying not to be bummed by that...but the tack & gift certificate donations allowed me to end on a good note And I'm hopeful for actual sponsorships to roll in.

I went to the Grange today and spoke to the Manager and she took the packet, asked to read it and asked if we had a deadline. I will follow up with her next week. I also went to Reber Ranch and talked to my friend who works there. The manager was at lunch, but I left the packet with my friend and she said she didn't see any reason why they wouldnt sponsor, so I will follow up with that as well.

What is the deadline for turning in the sponsorship form?
I'm going back to Kipert's today on my lunch and will ask if they are planning on sponsoring.
I talked to the Tack Room Too yesterday. They took the packet to look it over, but I kind of got the feeling they were just trying to be polite. Does anyone down here in the Olympia area have a relationship with them? I go in there occasionally, but they don't really know me. Maybe if someone they already know talked to them about it, it would help.

I like the idea of having a truck dealership as the Show Presenter. They are always looking for ways to get their product out there, and what better way than at a horse show? I go down to Spanaway all the time, so I can see if I can talk to a couple of dealers down there if anyone wants me to.
