UPDATED 7/4/10 ~ EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT ~ Please go to Page 2 for full update and continued planing Thank you to our Monday Chore Volunteer, Beth (beta) who had secured us the use of the showroom at Museum Quality Framing (yes, also a SAFE Horse Show arena sponsor!!) in Bellevue!! We set a date and here are the preliminary details... When: Sunday October 24th 2010 Where: Museum Quality Framing - 207 Bellevue Way S, Bellevue WA 98004 Time: 3pm - 7pm[/b][/color] Original Message: I guess it was inevitable...we're moving forward for a second event in the Spring FALL of 2010 and will be starting the planning phase...oh..right about now! This Sunday (10/18) Maeve and I would like to meet with anyone interested in helping to plan this event. The time and location will be determined but we're looking at 11am somewhere in the south sound area. Since it's just a couple days away, I'm going to suggest the Poodle Dog in Fife, it's right off the freeway at exit #137 and not typically swamped. Please feel free to post or pm questions/suggestions even if you can't make it. This meeting we'll discuss what went right/wrong at the last event and toss around ideas for good changes for the next one. We have not set a date w/Rob at the Abbey Ballroom but he did indicate that he would like to host it again. I look forward to your input and help .....here we go again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been excited for the next art show ever since the last one. I'm not sure how I'll be able to help, but I can't wait to hear what the ideas are for this year!

I definately want to get together again before Thanksgiving so we're probably talking mid-November. Also...while I'm pre-announcing this event...sorta/kinda... To any of you artists/photographers or those of you who have artist/photographer friends; please start thinking about projects you'd like to enter (prizes available?!)/donate. ...see...there's a little hint of change

The meeting was actually quite productive! We have some committees formed and are moving forward with the process. Here's a quick overview of our planning process but I won't burden the message board with every thought and detail. I will, however, note that I've created a yahoo group for effective communication about the event. If you're interested in planning, support or volunteering for this event I would suggest joining that user group. Also, I've created a separate email address for correspondence for the event to keep the volunteer address (and my personal email box) free for actual SAFE/Personal business... Please feel free to pass on this information to interested artists/photographers & potential donors / sponsors... heartofthehorseart@yahoo.com the user group is: groups.yahoo.com/group/heartofthehorseart I will be coordinating the event again but we have several committee heads: ART- Maeve Harris FOOD - Kim Nicholl / Ameci Eatery PUBLICITY - LYNN MAZER GRAPHICS - LEAH ANDERSON DONATIONS - ? ? (I may oversee this but could use some help with the different types) We can expect to have some wonderful art (several pieces have already been offered ...even if they may not have been created yet!), good food...same as last year but here are some exciting news... This year all pieces shown will be donated and will compete for several awards: Directors Choice (Comittee Head's) SAFE AWARD (Board of Directors) PEOPLE'S CHOICE (probably online voting pre-show) PHOTO CANVAS PAPER/DRAWING WATER COLOR SCULPTURE ? ? ? ? ? Anyone who might want to create their own award may do so by making a monetary donation/sponsorship (amount to be determined) and/or creating a prize for the award (basket, gift certificate, etc...) I'm open to suggestions/ideas!! OH...and all of the Category Title Winners will LIVE-AUCTIONED at the end of the show!!!! That's FUN!!!! We're also looking at having a special YOUth HeART exhibit and awards too! Get thinking about how you'd like to participate and tell your friends this show's going to be bigger and better!!

Hi Jet-
A couple of questions: * Are you still looking for artists? * If so, has a solicitation packet been prepared to share with them? There are two equine based artists in my neighborhood I'd like to solicit and would love to have a packet with all the details to share with them. * Are you accepting non-horse-related art this year? There are several artists in my family that I might be able to talk out of a piece or two for donation but they would not be horse-related.

I would also like a solicitation packet if one is available. I have a couple artists in mind that do great equine art and since they don't know who I am, I want to look official. Let me know.

We are looking for artists and am just about to get a solicitation packet together. As for Non-Equine art... no AND maybe a *maybe*... We have decided that all art submitted for the art show/competition (w/awards!) will be Equine Art only. We will accept non-equine themed silent auction packages but would like to focus on Baskets, Packages (spa, trip, event, etc...) and higher end stand-alone items. A lovely painting or other art could be included in the silent auction of the non-equine art items, I suppose. I certainly would not want to tell anyone that they can not participate but I want to be quite clear to the submitters that the art show and competition will be for the equine related art. I might also suggest that if artists who do not typically use horses as their subjects might like to take a dabble into it, I'm sure we can arrange a "meeting" for inspiration In fact...maybe we can do a photo day or art day or something where local artists can come out and meet SAFE horses for ideas for the SAFE Board of Directors Award...which the subjects will be SAFE horses!? anyway...I'm not actually PLANNING that right now but those types of things are possible.

I think this is a brilliant idea. I have a few people who would love to come and either set up to paint or take photos...including me

Frames Needed!! After a chat last night Maeve suggested we all be on the lookout for frames...specifically 11x14 size or larger! This was a big personal expense last year...one that was not carried into the budget and we'd like to fix that this year So if you happen to be at a yard sale, thrift store or cleaning out a garage, storage,etc... look for paintable frames. Probably not metal or poster/plastic frames but wood or other paintable surface frames simple/ornate...either way. We can paint them and use them to frame donated art (which typically comes unframed, btw). Often these types of frames can be picked up for 50 cents to $1.00. Please don't spend a fortune!! We don't want anyone to incur personal expenses for the show if at all possible. These can have art in them already..but we are not interested in the subject at all....in fact we'll probably toss it in order to use the frame. so...there's your challenge....frames! Lots & lots of Frames!!! contact me or Maeve when you need us to collect them
