No surprise there. Sometimes I wonder why some of these horses aren't adopted sooner. She is such a prize.

It's so awesome to see the horses getting homes. Dory is such a sweet little filly. She even wants to help clean up after herself! I hope it all works out.

I am very pleased to announce that Dory's adoption has been approved! We are just working on finalizing when she will leave for her new home. Dory's adopter is one of our wonderful volunteers named Betsy who has been helping out at my place for several months. Dory will be her future endurance/competitive trail mount. Congratulations to Betsy and I am so excited for both of you! ;D

Looks like a couple of years from now Dory will be competing with her sire. Wouldn't that be cool?

Thanks everyone! It was a bit of an emotional momemt this morning getting the adoption approval. Yep - another couple of years before she's under saddle but that would be absolutely amazing to compete with her sire. And it's too funny that I've ridden her dam, April, at Skyland Ranch a few times this summer.

That's so funny, I just realized who you were and that we ran into each other up at Mann Rd! Too funny! Well, when she's ready (I know its going to be a while), let me know and I'll ride with you out there. I try to go up to Airplane Lake or Duffey Lakes at least once a month unless there's snow up there.
Congrats on your adoption!!!! I'm happy for both you and Dory!

Congratulations on your adoption! And congratulations to SAFE for an excellent job rehabbing another neglected horse and helping her (begin to) reach her potential.

Very Cool. I thought you would go for Annie, but you took a sweet heart. I will miss her, but am glad to know she is yours.

Dory is all snuggly in her new home. Sorry no pictures just yet - the hauler showed up much earlier than I expected and forgot the camera! She hauled like a champ, was a bit curious and checking out stuff when she arrived - it was a bit busy with 2 lessons going on, people coming and going, and all the new sights. She settled right in with a flake in the paddock, played with the water a bit and tossed it out and around, and then acted like nothing was new. We put one of the mares, Dreamgirl, in the paddock next to her to see if they'd get along - Dreamgirl was *very interested* in Dory and kept nickering at her. Dory was like "I'm eating my hay, whatever" and ignored her. Dory received a lot of compliments about how beautiful and cute she was.
