Classy 1-09 s264.photobucket.com/albums/ii172/KarenVermillion/Class%20Act%201-09/Classy today s264.photobucket.com/albums/ii172/KarenVermillion/Class%20Act%201-23/Bear in mind it's 25 degrees and snowing... Fecal sample collected. The vet will let me know the status, She checked her teeth and said that her teeth weren't "that" bad, no sharp points, no ulcers in her mouth. Definitely a cribber at some point in her past - her upper front teeth are just nubs. Vet wants to wait until we have warmer weather to float. Her fingers get so cold - to the point where she can't feel what she's doing. Vet did a pelvic exam. She couldn't feel anything that would suggest a uterine infection or problem. Classy has been expressing liquid for at least a week. Vet suggested that with health will come resolution. She also wanted to wait and see. The vet suggested I continue the feed program that Classy is on - alfalfa pellets, Strategy, Amplify

UPDATE: The fecal sample showed worm eggs, but no more than what is considered normal for this time of year. She was dewormed on Saturday, January 31.
Since then, Classy has decided that she's well enough so she doesn't have to eat alfalfa pellets anymore, thank you very much! Since her teeth are "bad", but not the cause of her weight loss, she is back on flake hay, supplemented with Strategy and Amplify.
Friday is picture day...

Hi Karen- I am in Burbank, not far from you. I am not sure who you use as a vet. But I've used an Equine Dentist from Grandview for my 2 horses. He is fabulous, and comes to you. If you need info. I'll pass it on.

Sorry, no pics today. Little stinker decided to take a mud bath just before I went out. By the smug look on her face, she was feeling rather proud of herself.
She's doing well. She decided on her own that she'd rather starve than eat any more alfalfa pellets. She's on flake hay and Strategy w/Amplify and seems to be really happy with that.

Here's one I took today: She looks really good. Almost perfect weight - just needs some muscle now.

Hey Cat, are you over here living in Pasco? (I'd love to meet you, if you are)

No, I was just out for a few days and thought I'd visit my new horse that I'd never met while I was on that side of the mountains! I'll probably be back though, I'll let you know when and we can get together.

Wow. She looks great! Hats off, Karen! (Cat, did you get to see Honey too?) Of course. She is fat, muddy and happy. Came right up for snuggles. She is living with Dobbs, Karen's AQHA gelding, so she has a boyfriend.

Sorry it's been so long since my last update... Classy went through the "classic" starvation relapse. Initially, she put on a lot of weight on the outside. As her weight stabilized, her organs started taking what they needed, adding deep body fat that had been used to sustain Classy through the winter. I had stabilized her feed and all of a sudden, she was dropping weight again. She lost mostly along her topline. I switched her to 5 pounds of Equine Senior am and pm, and one and a half pounds of Strategy am and pm, and 4 pounds of aflalfa/grass mix hay am and pm. She has picked up weight again. She still hasn't had her teeth done. I won't schedule it until I get the "go ahead" from SAFE. On March 14, while my husband and I were at the movies, Classy rolled to close to the panels and was injured. She bruised her hock and took some hair off. When she stood up, the pin holding the panels together puncture and tore the muscle - just below her vulva. I called the vet, who came out and did some stitching. Recovery went very well and after three weeks, the open sore is only about the size of a nickel. You can see pics here - s264.photobucket.com/albums/ii172/KarenVermillion/BooBoo%20Classy/She is going through the mutant molting stage and her coat looks horrible. She remains sweet and tolerant and very patient. She shows no lameness due to her injury. She was running and flagging and bucking and farting on Friday when I turned her out on the pasture with the rest of the mob here. As always, anyone is very welcome to come for a visit. Just be prepared to listen to me blather on about the horses!

She looks so pretty and shiny!
I may have missed it, but has she been ridden lately? How is she under saddle?

I haven't ridden her since she came in January. I hear she's broke to ride and she's a lovely mover. I just haven't done it. I figured after what she's gone through, she deserves time off to be a horse and get fat and sassy. She is DEFINITELY sassy, but remains kind and sweet!
