Today Allison, Lynn & I hosted the Morgan Horse Club's Youth Group at the SAFE Facility. First off I'd like to say that I am just amazed at how willing and capable these young ladies are. They were a delight to have out all day...in the heat, no less. They were good sports and actually very enthusiastic about doing whatever project or chore needed to be done.
The ages ranged from 4 (yes, FOUR) to 18 and most all of them have their own horses and duties so for them to show up with smiles, ready to work was refreshing.
The youngest one turned out to be Super Tack Cleaning Girl and didn't let her size or age exclude her from anything the older girls were doing! She was in the thick of it most of the day
All of these young ladies showed exceptional safety awareness and horse handling skills. They wanted to know about SAFE and the horses individually & a few of them bonded. Even Annie was very curious about the smallest members and you could tell she lowered her energy level as well as her head when checking them out. I thought that was very touching!
Dory got her first ever (that I'm aware of) full on bath...with hose, water AND soap! She was beyond stellar and really seemed to enjoy it. She also picked out a girl for her very own and the two of them became inseparable for the rest of the day! I have to wonder what conversations were held at home tonite with "Dad" regarding their new horse (we're pulling for you here!!)
I know we made some real fans today. All the horses were on their best behaviors for their new friends and I hope the Morgan Horse Club Youth Group will consider themselves an extension of the SAFE Family. We SO enjoyed having you here today and are just blown away by your kindness to SAFE and our SAFE horses.
All that and THEY thanked US as they left....truly, we are the THANKFUL ones!!
The equestrian world has a bright future with the likes of these girls to carry on our passion!
Photos to come soon!
