Whiskey has settled in very nicely and was worked on by my chiropractor yesterday. Sam said her pelvis was off by an inch and a half!! (VERY painful) her stifles, hips, ribs, and T-1 were also out, her head and neck were fine. She is moving MUCH better today (before her adjustment her front and hind end almost appeared to move separately) and is much more 'present' mentally. She had the day off so we will see how she feels tomorrow! oh and she is just GORGEOUS!

I LOVE Sam!! She is such a neat lady and does such great work. She's done wonders for my two. Wonderful to hear about Whiskey...she must feel SO good. I look forward to hearing about how she feels tomorrow.

Whiskey is now with Monica, the trainer who has Heidi, trained Trey and Vivian (now Maya) for us. She is in Snohomish. We are excited to see her progress.

Here's a (mediocre) photo of her arrival, it was a loooong trip, and she hauled so well.

I am so pleased that she is with Monica. I think that she will be able to further unravel the barbed wire that surrounds Whiskeys heart and will win her trust. I am also pleased to hear that her back was so out of whack..no that I like to see her in pain but ...it certainly could explain some of her defensive/agressive behavior! Keep the updates coming Monica!!

Look at her dapples!! I only remebered the scruffy-winter-coat Whiskey, and now she looks like a pampered horse. It will be exciting to see her blossom with further work!

I also have had Sam come out and work on Katey. She is a great gal! It's really nice to see how well Whiskey is doing. I bet she was licking and chewing as Sam worked on each part of her. Great job Will be fun to hear more updates. :-)

She's a really gorgeous girl. I hope that the outcome is positive for this one (I know it will since SAFE is involved, but hopefully she can learn to trust and love again).

Updates!! I love Whiskey! she is SO sweet we hung out in the round pen today and she is very smart, after we worked we took a walk up to the construction site (used to be my trails ) and she was awesome! took it all in stride! her personality is really coming out, she will put her head in my hands and fall asleep while I love on her, her eye has really softened now that she is all settled in and starting to build a relationship. We will see how she does tomorrow I am going to saddle her and do some work off the fence, I want to be sure before I attempt to ride her and really set her up to succeed. I cant wait to ride her maybe I will get to start her on some cows

maybe I will get to start her on some cows I think that is a really good idea. It's great when you can take a horse who has an active mind and give them something so interesting to focus on that they don't think about being naughty! That is what I had to do with my now 27 year old TB mare back when she was 5. We could whack the polo ball around but we could never just ride in a circle or she'd be an idiot. When she was watching the polo ball, she behaved.

This is so great to hear, Monica! It is amazing what consistency good handling and fairness can do for a horse. I have a feeling that she would make a fantastic trail horse, too - agree with Cat that because she's so smart she'll need a job that keeps her engaged. Thanks for the updates!

Do you think she'd be a good polo pony? She is smart, sturdy and brave. Or maybe for search and rescue?

Well, if you ask her she seems to enjoy jumping. But not sure if we want to encourage that behavior. I am so thrilled to learn that she has come around to be sweet and affectionate. Having one of these alpha mares myself, I know that the potential is in there to be a very sweet and loving horse, but boy, last time I saw Whiskey she wasn't a horse I'd want to snuggle with!
