How are the girls doing? Will they stay in training for a while longer?

I'll be going out there this Saturday to take some video of both the girls, but Willow is doing wonderful! She has been off the lunge line for a while now, walking and trotting under saddle in the big arena, and I think today was going to be her first canter under saddle.

Ok, I have video coming, but here are a few still photos of Willow before and after her ride. She is doing great! She cross-ties now, and is a good girl for grooming and tacking up. She still tends to panic if they lunge her with side reins, even very loose, if she happens to throw that head up as only a Saddlebred can and encounters them, so they don't lunge her with side reins. She will eventually be rather naturally on the bit, but right now she is still green and finding her balance so her head tends to fly up in the air now and then. She has a few moments of balkiness now (she's still less than 30 days under saddle) where she tries to stop and kicks out a little at the leg, but she's almost over that completely. No buck or rear in her and she's not very spooky. All in all, a very nice horse...and so pretty! We got to see her third canter under saddle, and she was very nice! And in a very crowded arena which she handled like a pro! Here are a few photos: Getting ready to go into the arena, yes, I have a very pretty tail! Love those dapples!

I've been thinking about Willow all morning so I went over to page one of her thread to see her original photos...what a difference! I'm just so happy that she's SAFE and will someday find a home to treasure her Thank you to all the SAFE community for all that has been done to help her! It's taken the acts and hopes of all of us to show this horse that there is hope in the world & look what she's found inside her... I know...I keep gushing over her! but it's really about ALL of the horses SAFE has been able to help. Truly wonderful work everyone

Ok, here we go. I am very disappointed with how dark the videos turned out. The arena was dark and it didn't look that good on my computer but it was totally visable...but when I uploaded to Photobucket you almost couldn't see anything. So I tried YouTube and it is only marginally better. I also tried to add music and that wasn't working either. *sigh*. Anyway, here she is! Willow is wrapping up her training and coming back to Monroe this weekend, where hopefully we can find enough volunteers to keep her going until she finds a home!
Her last couple of weeks of training she has really become a wonderful ride, no more testing or balking, very steady walk/trot/canter, very confident and reliable. Willow has never spooked since she has been there. Andrea started taking her out of the arena and riding her in the outdoor arena and around the property by herself, and she's completely relaxed and at ease doing that - she has the makings for a great trail horse, show horse, or pleasure mount. She cross-ties, bathes, clips (her muzzle and chin, they are working up to her bridle path) and she is able to lunge her in side-reins now, as long as you start off with them very loose and shorten them gradually.
Her adoption fee has been increased to $1000 to reflect the training costs we put into her. She is worth every penny of it and more, this is a NICE horse!

Dressage anyone? Here is a relative of Willow, now in Southern California: scroll down the videos page to Dalton www.frenchlightdressage.com/videos.htmlRegistered name is Explosion in Gold. Bred up in Washington by Antigo Saddlebreds. They have supplied many of the golden ASBs for the Merced County Sherriff's Posse (mounted posse). Carri seems to have a nice breeding program where she's breeding for quality and for color. Quite a few chocolate palominos as well. David was the head trainer for Medieval Times out here for the last 8 years. He is now back to straight classical dressage training. If you look at his other videos, there's another one of Dalton as well. His website is www.frenchlightdressage.comAnd by the way, Harry Callahan ¡§cousin¡¨ to Annie, has been continuing his Grand Prix career in Florida: Finishing in the middle of a group of 12 horses. Very few horses ever make it to this competitive level. cfh-dressage.com/News.htmlwww.saddlebred.com/asha/news.php?f=americansaddlebredharryca$1,000 for a prospect with these kinds of relatives¡Khope you can put this info to use rehomeing them ƒº (posted on both mares)
