I was so proud of Cedar and the way she just dealt with everything. She was nervous, but she did everything I asked...
All except for the Bribe-a-horse. Cedar, apparently, is a mare with principles and refused to be bribed! She knew she was entitled to that apple, and wasn't going to chase me down for it. Fortunately other horses got into the spirit!
My husband shot a little video of Cowgirl Spirit and the SAFE horses in the arena, so I'm spending the rainy afternoon with my feet propped up, editing it.
Thanks to those who worked so hard to create a showcase for our lovely mares, and everyone who participated, cheered and took pictures.

I am sorry that Buena and I missed the show this year. Maybe next year. I know from how well it went in Oregon that it was only going to be better this year, and it sounds like it was! Thank you to all of you SAFE staff and supporters. You all make up what SAFE is and stands for and without every single one of you the horses would potentially be lost.

I'm home, showered and have clean clothes on and can't get the smile off my face even though I'm totally exhausted! I swore I was going to take a nap but Les, Nicole and I have been talking about the show non-stop for like 45 minutes.... THEY had a wonderful experience and have mountains of good things to say about the show, it's organizers and the people who volunteered and supported the show by participating! Yes, I'd say I had a good learning experience from it and I had a great time & even managed to smile when things didn't go as planned for me and took some very positive things to think about from the Judge. She made me feel totally comfortable, even when I messed up. THANK YOU for that. I can be hard on myself and I left happy that I'd pushed myself to do it, even though physically it was a challenge to try to do so much. You and Coconut were wonderful. I was so honored to be able to hand you ribbons for your successes. You deserved them!

This was an absolutely fabulous experience for me! I got to be up close and personal with all of you. I was so impressed by the relaxed atmosphere and the way everyone helped everyone including the judge in talking with the participants and coaching them to do better each time they came out into the arena. I was overwhelmed by the caring and support you all gave each other and for the horses. Thank you for allowing me to be Ribbon Diva this year. You all ROCK!

Fortunately other horses got into the spirit! You guys have simply fed her too well and she has forgotten all about her days of being starved. She thinks she is someone's B circuit hunter now, and that chasing food is far beneath her! (Class has experienced no such metamorphosis. Two years off the feedlot, and she damn near ran my butt over to get that grain!)
