Hijacked... Sorry
Liz.. Is this the place between King Feed and the Auction barn on the east side of the road? The new place that went up this spring? Need to re-stock the freezer.
Thanks

Tracy's has really good corn (even if it is from California). Yes, Steve. The new place. It's just west of King Feed on the north side of the road. And I hear there is some really good rosemary in stock, too < latigoliz.blogspot.com/2008/07/jelly-batch-2.html>!

okay, I have tentatively budgeted $250 for the concession stand. Is that going to be enough? What's on the menu?
Amy, have you been able to visit Bridle Trails yet to see what is there? If not, I'll PM you with the contact info for Mary who is the Park Ranger, and she should be able to let you into the stand so you can see what's there.

WOW ! Thanks, I think that would be more then enough, as I was going to throw in about $100....this doesn't let people who want to donate off the hook!!! ;D
I was going to visit this weekend, however, Google Maps has BTSP only 15 minutes from work so I was thinking of going there during my lunch period. So yes, if I could get the contact info that would be great, then when I go to get the permit I will know if there is a hand washing station and all of that.
I am working on the menu, but we are looking at hot dogs, snacks, drinks ( H20, pop), then try for fruit, corn, and vegan wraps if there is extra.
Estimating about 100 to 125 people to eat.
Still looking for ways to cook the corn and hot dogs. Microwaves would work but dont' think there as appealing as the electric grill or giant boiler.

Perhaps it might be worthwhile to rent a giant stockpot or grill? www.grandrents.com/foodSvc.shtml (I think this one is in Bellevue - grills are halfway down the page and are less expensive than the first link) I have a big stockpot with strainer - will check size when I get home - if needed...

How many people do you expect at this show. I have a lemonade/ice cream float vending booth, and may be interested in attending. We would of course donate to Safe Horses. I am a volunteer out at Jamies.
Thanks
Lyn

Lyn,
I have no idea how many people we would be expecting, but you'd have my money! ;D
I guess my two cents would be somewhere in the area of 150 including spectators, participants, and volunteers. I might be off on that though, so don't take my word for it!

I talked to Donna @ Tim's Cascade chips and they're giving us 200 bags saying "is that all?" and I'll pick them up on Aug 13th. She said she'd include a banner we can hang at the concession stand or where ever....if we want...not a huge deal if not they would just like to have it back afterwards. I said I'd take it and make sure we got it back! So...we have chips...yes we do

I am part owner of a chocolate shop. We are willing to sell some of our wares (including apples dipped in yummy chocolate, white chocolate, or caramel - and handdipped chocolate brownies) with 50% of the proceeds to come back to SAFE. My partners are putting together a proposal for you but I can attest that this chocolate is the best you have ever had.
Let me know who I need to talk to about this. Lynn

Preliminary Summary
Okay, I still have to go to BT (waiting to hear back from the Ranger there) to check out the facilities and get the food permit. From looking at all the entries, this is what I have so far:
CONFIMRED OFFERINGS (meaning we have them)
$25 Gift Card from Costco - rabbithounds $25 Gift Card from Top Foods - rabbithounds
200 bags of Tim's Cascade Chips - coconut 48 each peanuts in 1 oz bags - coconut 28 six packs of PB/Cheese crackers - coconut 3 cases of water - coconut 3 boxes of 4 oz red vines - coconut 5 cases of pop - cocount
35 water bottles - Epiphany 24 Reg Coke - epiphany 24 Diet Coke - epiphany 4 doz asst cookies - ephiphany
Hot Dog buns (deli style) - Trillium
Morning Food stuffs for volunteers only - smtwncowboy
ITEMS THAT HAVE BEEN OFFERED (but not confirmed)
Horse Cookies by Courage Reins Farms - said they were interested, asked how many we would like but haven't responded to my email.
Lemonade/Ice Cream stand - Lyn51 "may be interested in attending"
Chocolate Goodies - lynnm Please send me a PM
CONTACTS (follow up on people who suggested contacts) Cash&Carry - coconut Delightful Treats - coconut Proficient Foods - coconut Sara Lee - coconut Coca-Cola - coconut Frito Lay - coconut
Essential Baking Co - epiphany Trophy cupcakes - ephiphany Blazing Bagels - epiphany
PCC- rabbithounds (missed deadline) Wholefoods - rabbithounds (missed deadline) Starbucks/ SBC - rabbithounds (missed deadline)
This will be the for sure menu:
Hot Dogs with condiments (grilled onions, mustard, relish, ketchup and maybe sauerkrat (depending on what health people say)
Soda/Pop/ Water Snacks
What I would like to add are the following: Corn on the Cob with butter Apples/Oranges Veggie Wraps
Here is the catch...money. Yes, SAFE is offering $250,however, we are looking to feed 200 people ...there may not be 200 present but some people will eat twice that day and then there are those that 'growing' and need more food than others.
There are non food items to purchase such as napkins and plates.
So in order to add the extra food items, we need to get more items donated so we don't have to purchase them.
If an average item from Costco should cost between $10-$15 (hot dogs ($112 for 200 6" Kosher dogs), condiments, water, pop, candy, paper products, ($6 for 500 paper trays) ice) to feed 200 servings, then that means we can only get between 15-16 of these items. I don't think that is going to be enough.
So, for now the menu will be: Hot Dogs Water/Pop Snacks
If we should get more donations we can open it up to the Veggie Wraps, Corn on the cob and fruit.
Comments , opinions are welcomed. I know we are opening up at 8 and have no idea when the last show will be. 4 ?
Thanks to all who are donating items. ;D
I will have another listing of those who are offering to use ice chests, serving utinsils, etc.
Not sure yet about BBQs yet because of the fire hazzards. Well let you know after my visit with the Ranger and Health Dept and if needed Fire Dept.
Okay guys 23 days and counting !!!!

Could you change my name on the morning food stuff? I've used whitewolf81 for a couple years now. This log in was created with an ex that is way back in my past, and I took it over....
Also, I will take care of everything for the morning stuff. I'll have a table, ice chest, juice, doughnuts, etc all set up by trails. (Do I have power for an industrial coffee maker?) I figure it makes everyone come say hi to me in the morning! ;D Also, it separates "volunteer food" from "concession stand food"
