Jet, you rock ! ;D
I just returned from a venue that had a very simple but complete concessions.
They had hot dogs grilling on a small portable grill / hot plate thing and pre cut onions from a bag (commercial), and the normal condiments. It looks like we could do this with either a grill or crock pot?
Can I get a shout out from what people have so I can get an idea of where we are at?
So far its chips?
My next free Saturday is the 26th, so I can check out the facilities then.
Thanks everyone for contributing.

I also have a box of peanuts in bags (I forget what size bag...but they're like .50 cent size bags) AND A box of 48 six-packs of PB/Cheese crackers
PLUS SODA in Cans (aprox 5 cases minus a few cans we sold at the yard sale) & 3 cases of bottled water (16oz'ers I think)

I have to go to the Costco Business Center tomorrow and will pick up another case of the peanuts in bags and I'm mailing out request letters to Jones Soda & Oboy-Oberto...I had such good luck with Tims as a local company I'm going to try my luck with others....wouldn't it be cool to get one of the SAFE horses on a bottle of Jones Soda? Anyway...I'd take free soda for the concessions to start off with.......but one CAN dream!

Costco Business center is having their "Expo" this Fri/Sat and they do this 2 times a year where they discount a bunch of products. I checked the flyer and they are going to have Mike & Ikes and Hot Tamales @ $8.79 a case - 24 ct Grandma's Cookie Assortments @ $6.79 - 33 ct Red Vine 4oz packs @ $5.99 - 15 ct Crystal Geyeser water 16.90z @ $3.99 - 35 ct
I also priced hotdogs/buns & paper hotdog trays while there: 25 - 6" Kosher dogs - $13.99 24 buns - $2.75 (still the hotdog conspiracy...the bun vs dog count NEVER matches up!) 500 Paper trays - $5.99
and as a possible consideration: Cheese sticks for "Cheese dogs" for our vegan friends: 48 cheese sticks - $10.99
I did pick up another case of peanuts & will probably get at least 2 boxes of Red Vines at the Expo sale on Friday when I go back.
That's my update for now

That is so you can afford to drop one hot dog on the ground for your faithful hound who is gazing at you with loving loyalty in those deep brown eyes and the tiniest drop of drool on the corner of his/her mouth. I should know I have experience!

Do not buy buns for hot dogs, I work for Safeway Bread Plant, and can get buns for FREE. If you just tell me how many you will need. I can even get the larger Deli style buns/rolls. They hold up better if you like alot of condiments on your dog. I have a small BBQ grill I could bring if needed. (Coleman Road Trip) I have a canopy, coolers, big Gatorade cooler and lots of other stuff. Just let me know what you need. Who is organizing the concessions? Is that you Coconut? Maybe make a list and then when it gets closer to the show we can see what else we need. You can modify the list as people donate or commit to items.

Let me do some checking next time I go to the store. I will commit to some food too.
Laurie, if you have one of those big Gatorade coolers, maybe you could bring that, and I can bring a couple large containers of the country time lemonade?

rabbithounds is the Concessions Mistress, I'm helping her in the planning phases because I *hope* to be showing that day but that's up in the air now. But WOW.....thats AWESOME about the buns!!! and that's fantastic about the organizational items. It looks like this is going to work out! Yeppie

I do agree with Laurie. Could we get a centralized list on this thread that shows what we need, what we have, etc? That helps those of us who will be donating out. Then it can be updated as we go along by just modifying the post

I spoke to the Health Dept and they said if we sell the candy and stuff (pre packaged and yes, I would include baked goods in this) we are invisible to them. IF we should go with the hot dogs, then the permit would be $25.00 and we need to chit chat with the local fire dept. I don't have a problem with doing the ground work for this (& paying for the permit) , however, I would like to get a consensus from those veterans of such events would it be worth it? I think we could make a pretty good outcome if we had a small lunch (hot dog, drink, snack) available to people (not too sure if it's too late to advertise that concessions would be available)....but then again I was wrong about the calendar How many people are we talking about? 100? 200? Believe it or not, if we had hamburgers we would open another can of worms. No worms allowed ..Keep It Simple... ;D

Then it can be updated as we go along by just modifying the post I asked at the beginning of this thread for people to post what they are bringing, but yes, I will go through and do a list of what we have and what is needed. Thanks to Coconut we do have Tim's Cascade Potato Chips donating to us... a bag? I hope to go to Bridle Trails on the 26th and take a look at the set up. I still need to approach grocery stores and beg for donations. We have a form letter (Thanks to WW) to send to potential donors for anyone wanting a copy. You will need to update it to fit the request.
