Hi there, I'm Kelly and found SAFE whilst searching the interwebs. From all appearances it seems just the sort of organization I was looking for and I can't wait to come Sunday and attend the volunteer orientation. It's been years since I've been around horses but I plan on being patient and just trying to do what I can. I want to be useful!

I'm new here, I actually Googled Equine Rescue and so many sites came up so I added Washington State to the search. I have been a horse lover my entire life and would love to help save a horse's life (many many horses lives preferably) or just volunteer and see what comes of the experience. Right now I am actually a stall cleaner at a stable in West Seattle. It has been a rewarding experience being around my favorite animal. They are so precious and its unfortunate that aniimals dont have a voice, so we NEED to be one for them. I am happy to have found this site and look forward to being a part of this community. I'm very sorry to read about how people were abusing this board by just giving away horses to people who were not capable of taking care of them. That's not fair to the horse at all. I have, in the month and a half that I've been working with horses, seen just how much food and water and attention these precious creatures really need, and its expensive to maintain a horse as we all know. I hope that one day I may have some of my own. They are the most magnificent and beautiful animals on earth.

coming out to the poker run on the 13th would be a great way to meet some of us volunteers. Even if you don't have a horse, you can volunteer if you like and have a good time.

Welcome Lovehorses! There are lots of ways to help out in this organization. Chores are, in deed, the most direct and much needed way to volunteer but you've got quite a choice of other things that we always need help with: Site & Reference Checks for Foster Homes & Adoptions; Volunteering to assist at one of our many events, like the upcoming Poker Ride on Sunday as Cyann100 said; Participating in event planning for upcoming events like HeART of the Horse next Spring & the Benefit Horse Show next summer; we're always supportive to events that folks want to hold themselves as well....be creative and you never know what can happen. If you're interested in coming up to volunteer some chore hours at the facility in Monroe, we're setting up orientations. We request that you fill out an application at: www.safehorses.org/you_help/volunteer.htmlMeanwhile, participating in our message board here is a great way to catch up on what's happening! Thank you for wanting to help the horses...and welcome to SAFE! Jet - SAFE Volunteer Coordinator

Hi Delores! Welcome to the Message Board. I got your email late last night and sent a reply with the address. I must have read this board just before I read the volunteer mail so I missed this until this morning...sorry about that! I hope the girls have a great time today of meeting the horses and SAFE Volunteers....your turn next week

Hi, I am Laura,
I was a volunteer at WalkingNCircles in Edgewood, NM, mucking out stalls, grooming, round pen work with new horses, assisting with evening feeding for 48 horses, some Natural Horsemanship training.
So I am looking for someplace to volunteer here, now that I moved to Seattle; esp North of Seattle as I live in Ballard. I dont know where the facility is, but what would be my next step? laura

Hi,
My name is Beth a I signed up to volunteer for chores through the Disney promotion but I haven't heard back to confirm the January 24 orientation date or to get the address yet. When does that information usually go out?

Anyone want to do chores this Thursday 9/16? Jaime is leaving for the Championships with Slam and there is no one that has stepped up for this day.
