I think Laurie also had a purple bucket to make a basket out of. Perhaps we could look at donating small items for this type of thing as well? Detangler, brushes, hoof pick, etc.
I'd be happy to find some small things like this to be donated! I'm great at bargain shopping for the little things

Hey Laurie: Could you give me an update on the prize drawing please?? What are the items that will be included and are you still considering more than one drawing? I know that Valerie has donated a western saddle and an english saddle. I think that the Moneigh that Beth is donating should be auctioned off separately, possibly via eBay to raise more money. Those are pretty special, and we could potentially raise more with an auction than using it as a prize, unless it was its own drawing. We are going to need to use most of the donated items as prizes for the show, so I'd love to see a list of what's been donated so far. thanks! what I know about so far: - grooming kit from Oster - gift bag from Grand Meadows - gift certificate for 4 yards of mulch from DeJongs - Emerald Downs gift certificate Amy and Leah, what is the latest from Gift Horse and Olsens? thanks!! If you are going to use the donated items for show prizes, I need to know exactly what I can use for the prize drawings. It sounds like there is an english saddle and one or possibly two western saddles. I think on the more expensive items, the ticket price should be $5. Should we have the saddles on seperate drawings? I could bring three containers for people to deposit their tickets into. $5 per ticket and they pick which saddle they want to enter for. What do you all think? I have a purple bucket I was hoping to put some smaller items into. Maybe I will get a couple of more of them to make bucket baskets out of. I just need smaller items to put in them. I could use grooming brushes, shampoo, wraps or anything small. Last year we had some horse books, lead ropes, rope halters. The first aid kit was a big success too. Note cards, candles, bottles of wine. Anything goes. ;D Bonnie, maybe you could add to this post with what I will have to work with and then I can go from there. I will commit to bringing 3, 5 gallon buckets. Leah, your photos are beautiful and would be appreciated.

You can have all the saddles. There are 2 western saddles here at my house that Valerie donated. And she told me she purchased an English saddle to donate as well.
I'm not sure what to do with the DeJongs gift certificate for 4 yards of mulch. Probably can't use that as a show prize, so you're welcome to that as well.
The Osters, Grand Meadow and Emerald Downs will be show prizes. We are going to need an additional 3-5 similar items for show prizes, so hopefully Gift Horse and Olsens will come through there.
I hope you don't feel like I'm taking your stuff away, but we are sorely lacking on donor money thus far. I need something to be able to entice people to come to the show...

Laurie,
I'll start keeping an eye out for "little" things that I can pick up to go in baskets.
FYI, bottles of wine may be no-nos. Alcohol gets complicated in Washington. We may want to be careful with that.

I'm also putting together a Horse themed basket w/that mailbox cover, I just picked up some really nice note cards and will be picking up stuff for it as we go until that week before the show, unless I get something fabulous pulled together before then. I'll try to make sure that the value is $100 or more by the time it's done.

I hate to be the dumb bunny but I am getting confused. What is the difference between a show prize, prize drawing and raffle?
Aren't there going to be ribbons for those that place? Plus they get a prize? Or just the prize?
Also are there entry fees?

I have another new Western Saddle that was donated for the garage sale. Do you want that for a prize drawing too?

Trillium, I'll pick up a few things to put in the bucket baskets. What type of things are you looking for? Maybe I can go to my local feed store here and see if I can sweet talk them. It's a little harder for me. They don't like supporting things that aren't right here to get some payback from it.

I was thinking of things people could always use. Stuff like vet wrap, hoof picks, treats, shampoo, lead ropes(they go on sale for $5 all the time at Wilco). First aid ointments, etc, anything for horse or rider too. Horse wormers go on sale for about $4 all the time too.
