Thanks, Leah! We're just getting close to crunch time, and I need to know what still needs to be found/made!

OK, it looks like the only thing that I still need for my course is a mounting block (yes, it is part of the course). Does anyone have one that can be thrown into their trailer for us to use at the trails course.
Also, I do still need the log (honeydo, please) and the goats (trillium). Leah, after what you found out today, I don't need your tarp anymore.
Shoot....almost forgot....need a water box too, but if I can't get one, it will end up getting left out of the course. I don't have enough time to invent one at this point
So, water box and mounting block.

You know.. there are tons of logs around the storage area at Bridle Trails... I'm thinking maybe one of them could work!

Leah, did they have weave poles? Did you see any? Or cones? Or something along those lines?

They have the types of poles used for pole bending (the white ones), and they have cones.

Awesome! I am pumped. Two weeks from tomorrow!!!!
I'll work on getting my course "blue print" drawn up. Roughly how big is the arena I'm putting trails in? Anyone have a rough idea?

I think it is the dressage arena- it is 20x60 meters.

I would like to do this class - two quick questions - will cantering be necessary? We were just going to do w/t classes so I don't think we can do canter for high point. And - the goats - I am ok with my big horse seeing them and doing what ever she may want, but I would like to take my 3.5 yo and her mini in the lead line class. They will be bareback and while my daughter can stick her pony well, I have never seen my ponies reaction to goats and don't want to risk her freaking out and dumping my daughter if I can. Are the goats going to be there for that portion and if so - Can I lead the mini/fat pony by them sans rider to see what she will do? I am all for my kid learning to ride, but at 3 it is about fun and safety. I don't think the pony will care - but one never knows.
Thanks

I don't require anything over a trot for my course, so no worries there. I know there will be quite a few horses that will only be doing w/t, so I want to make sure everyone that wants to can go through the trails course.
As far as leadline kids, there are areas of the course that the lead line kids will not go through for safety reasons. One of them is the goats. I have children as well, and I completely understand your desire to make sure your child is safe. The "spookier" parts of the course are on one side of the arena, and the easier parts go at the other end. The lead line kids only go through about half of the course.

A thought for next year, maybe. To add a in hand class for young horses that aren't being ridden like Holly. Can I walk her through the course during a break?

You are very welcome to walk her through during a break in the trails course. Just keep in mind, I don't really have "breaks" during trails and when they take a break in the main arena, that's when everyone comes to see me. Trails is run all day long until about an hour before the show stops for me to tally points and get them to Bonnie.
We did have an in hand class last year. It was removed this year because I had a total of two people go through in hand. There was just not enough interest last year to do it again this year. I was the one who recommended it be dropped, so you can all blame it on me!

In-hand trail is always a popular class...I think that'd be great for people with babies! And I like it because it's something to do with them other than ride them when they are young. I'm all for anything that discourages riding them under the age of three.

******IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT******
So, since there have been so many people wanting an in-hand trails course, and it is too late to add it to the class list at this point, I have a solution.
Anyone who desires to take their horse through the course in hand will be allowed to do so. I will judge you based on which of the the mounted age groups you would fall under. Essentially, you are judged on the same principles that the mounted riders are judged. How well you handle the course, how well the horse handles it, how well the horse takes handler cues, etc.
If I have enough people go through in hand, we will add it back to the class list for next year.
So again, in hand trails WILL happen, but there will not be a separate class. If you'd like to bring back in hand trails for next year, make sure you do the course this year! Just sign up for the mounted class corresponding to your age group and tell me you will be doing the course in hand before you begin.
Any questions, PM me!!!
