Wow, it's going to be TOUGH to narrow this down to just 12 pictures. Really tough. Jullianne has gotten some amazing pics too... did she take any of the safe crew?

A reminder for those of you who want to submit photos for the 2009 Calendar. The cut off date is June 14th, and I have recieved a whopping TWO photos!

All mine are coming, I promise. Should they be color or b/w? Also, I'm not sure if it was ever decided how the calendar will be produced? I will still offer to design it so that we can make it exactly how we want it. I have some ideas for printing, and have access to *free* spiral binding

Color or B/W photos are fine.
The design is being fine tuned, however, in order to keep on schedule of submitting photos and Fun Facts (haven't received any of those) and narrowing them down to present them for voting, I need to crack the whip in order to make the August deadline.
As for as funding goes: Unless we receive about 80 pre-orders in order to make the 50% down of the printing there won't be any made. We will then need another 80 to make the final payment, as I didn't want a single cent to come out of SAFE to do this. I am trying to find a sponsor for the calendar as well, but sill waiting for info from the BOD.
I have cut the number of calendars to be printed down from 500 to 300 since there doesn't seem to be a lot of enthusiasm for it.

I think once the product has been actually produced you may see interest go up. People have a tough time pre-ordering on something they can't see. Plus, $$ are tight because fuel prices and grocery prices are taking up a lot of people's extra funds, if any even existed to begin with.

Yeah, I sort of thought along those lines too. Hopefully sales will pick up once the final 12 are chosen. ;D

Jaybird
I wanted to know what to offer to the company that would agree to foot the bill for putting on the calendar. I have sent an email to Jen to suggest the following:
Full page ad in Show Program Logo inclucded on show posters and ads Logo on each month of the calendar Banner hung on show grounds (provided by them) Link to their website from SAFE
I also am still waiting to hear on the vendor arrangements at the show so I can get Costco to donate food (they need a 2 month lead time)

We've got this thread going and Julia M. has set up the template of a 2009 calendar & asked me to post the message that we need PHOTOS & content!! For best printing results the photos should be a 400 or more dpi resolution.
Also, if anyone has or can draw some cute horse-related doodles to put around that would be great too for corners of the calendar and any good horse facts ... a kind of "did you know" - especially rescue facts like " ... amount of horses need rescuing each year" or something like that.
I will refer her to the photos that have been posted here in this thread and perhaps she will contact you to get original files.
Thanks so much!

I know a professional pet photographer who is interested in volunteering her time and skills to photograph the rescue horses.

I am happy to offer a few photos as well - there's the one that's my avatar - Phoenix holding Sinatra's leadrope - and I have so many others.... tell me if there are other ones you want to consider.
Glad to see this idea revived. I can upload the photos at full resolution to my website and send the link.

Hi everyone, I have a template and some photos all ready for a 2009 calendar now. What I need is someone to help me throw it into a lay-out program (I have In-Design but don't know how to use it yet - if someone else has Pagemaker I do know how to use that) and help me find a printer. I had hoped to get it all ready and printed by Nov. 1st but I've been so busy I don't think I can do that on my own. Once I have an estimate from a printer I have a little packet to take to Dels, Stoney Creek, Bothell Feed, etc. to ask if any of them would be willing to make a donation in exchange for advertising on the calendar. And of course if they'll let us put some calendars in their stores for the holiday season.
Please email me directly at tankgrrl at speakeasy dot net if you can help me with this! Most important is someone to call printers for me and get us a good price. Thanks! - Julia
