Lily got her second lice dusting today and was very good. She also got a new purple blanket that is very pretty on her! She is doing so well the current plan is to wean her in about a week, and she will stay with me with the rest of the babies, and Willow will go into a foster home.

Lily got her first feet trimming today and she was such a good girl! She put up a bit of a struggle with the fronts (which was really kind of humorous as she hopped on one foot while I held her in place), but then she relaxed and stood like a good girl. When we went for the backs though she had had enough! She couldn't not stand still and had lost all patience, so we let her have a rest and she took off at a run to mom for a drink. We left her alone for a bit and got Willow done, and then after a bit of a chase to catch her again (which was really a game for her, she's not afraid at all and loves to run circles around you), once she tired of the game we easily caught her and then she was a perfect angel to have her hind feet done as well. I was so proud of her! Pictures to come.

Lily was weaned last Friday and she was not happy about that in the least. She is supposedly an October baby which should make her at least 5 months old now, so of appropriate weaning age, and she has definately been the strongest of all the horses that came to my farm. Anyway, she was pretty sure that her mom was SOMEWHERE on the property even though no one was answering her calls, so she tried breaking into one pasture area after another to get in with all the horses on the property to see if any of them were mom. This was actually fairly easy since I was having fencing issues and my hotwire wasn't working - this was fixed on Saturday. She tried latching herself on to Hope and even tried nursing off of her, but she wasn't having any of that. When Hope left to her new foster home, she was paired up with Kokomo and she seems pretty happy with that arrangement. Funnily enough, he is dominant to her except when it is grain time, and then she turns into a little terror! She is half his size yet he backs right down when she goes after him with her little hooves and teeth! She is a pistol and really hates being caught right now (and now she is out 24/7) so that is not much fun, but once she is caught she is so sweet! She is going to be a beautiful horse!

Yes, Lily's personality is starting to show now that she is on her own. I fed them their grain last night and her and Kokomo were dueling it out over her grain pan. There was lots of ear pinning and teeth baring, but no rears or bites. I watched them for a bit (that's some entertainment!) and Kokomo ended up winning that battle. I just go gaga over the little ones!

And actually, we could use blankets in the high 50s as well. I think the biggest blanket we have that's small goes to around 52-54".
Great blog Monica! My favorite picture was the "Are you my mommy?" one....

I think you'll have to add the 7933 to the end of it after you copy/paste it and it should work.

Jaime...the blanket is on its way to you, but won't go out for a few days. To hurry things up I asked for 3 day delivery.

Mel, just wanted to let you know I got the blanket today...so it took a bit longer than 3 days (not sure if you want to complain about that). However, it was perfect timing because the temperature dropped tonight and they are talking SNOW again for the weekend (which would break the existing record of latest snowfall). I was able to take the stable sheet/rain sheet combo off of Phoenix which didn't fit him well and replace it, and it fits perfectly. Thank you!

oh yay!!! I am so happy to know it's being put to good use on one of the babies! Let me know if you need more.
Yeah, they didn't ship the silly thing until a week after they said they would...and I think I will complain.
