Foxy is the cutest ever! Okay, maybe I am biased.....
I did forget to mention her soundess in the last post. So basically I have switched farriers (farrier #5....sigh) and they are trimming her differently. She appears to be improving and is due for her next trim tomorrow actually. I have been very very lightly working her. Lightly as in, I lunge her for 1 minute maybe. Just a few circles mostly at a trot or walk, mostly in her "good direction". She trotted out very soundly yesterday. I have also been working her in the pasture instead of the arena which seems to help her. Their arena is not a soft sand footing. It is more of a packed clay dirt with light layer of very coarse dirt on top? Not sure how to describe.
She is not worked hard and is given a lot of time off....basically I will lunge her a minute or two, once or twice a week. She is sound in the pasture so I am just hoping to get her to where I can ride around the pasture a little. No tight turns or anything like that.
If she does not stay sound, she can be re-retired. However, I think she will stay sound enough for me to just plod around on. It is just getting her to where I feel safe getting back up there to ride, after her having a year and a half off and her last real ride having resulted in bucking me off and breaking my arm. I'm rebuilding my confidence as much as anything else.
I think she may need boots in anything other than pasture, at least for now. I am poor, so we will just work in the pasture only then! She is a good girl, hopefully I can get up there in the next week or so.
