Original description provided by CBER at feedlot:LARKSPUR - 19 year old Reg./papered TB mare. This mare was used as a broodmare but we have been told that she has been ridden. Never raced. Approx. 16 hands. She is very sweet and willing and after getting her body back in shape she could do anything in moderation. Updated description:Larkspur is now officially 20 years old by Jockey Club standards and is more like 15.2 hands. She is very sweet and easy to handle. She was seen by a vet yesterday, judged to be in good health overall other than her teeth were a mess which were taken care of along with receiving all her vaccinations and wormed. She, like Azalea, dropped some weight over the winter but is already gained a considerable amount back since the rain has stopped and the grass has started growing. She has been moved to a boarding situation in Vader, WA where she can be stalled and grained separately. Her only health concern at the moment is rainrot which we are addressing as with the others. Larkspur was born in 1986 making her 19 years old. She is about 16 hands. She went through the Keeneland sale twice but has never raced. And here is Larkspur's info: She is FINAL FLURRY by TIMELESS MOMENT out of FIRST FLURRY by MR. LEADER her full pedigree can be seen here: www.pedigreequery.com/final+flurryFinal Flurry produced 13 foals between 1990 and 2005. She was bred to some decent studs: Lil E. Larkspur only got three of her feet done today also. She freaked out on the fourth and almost got away from Clayton. She was very nervous afterwards and ran around quite a bit. Apparantly, Clayton said she is the hotter of the two TBs - she is always running - he thought she was the younger one. Although Sam felt that Azalea was the hotter of the two, so far Azalea has been an angel and Larkspur has been a bit of a dingbat.

Larkspur is a pretty lady. Tall with nice color. Sometimes when I watch her eyes and her face, she makes me think that she has stories to tell like the Indian woman that tells stories around the fire. Larkspur just has one of those faces that makes you feel things. Her face is one that comforts you and lets your mind wonder. I could see her at the cliffs edge looking on at the mountains with her cowboy or cowgirl after a nice quiet trail ride. Hope she gets a good home with a thinker.

She's a well-mannered mare, easy to handle, and respectful. I think she's more like 15.1 or 15.2. She wasn't thrilled about getting her hind pastern/fetlock area hosed off after we shampooed them, but she was wicked good about getting groomed on both sides of her body at once.

Thanks for the update, CG. I'm sure Larkpur wondered what took you so long to get there with "her" blankie!

This is wonderful news...I'm so happy she's doing so well. It's such a relief to know that she's in a place where she's comfortable and well taken care of. And thanks for looking after her so well, CG. I hope it's not too long a drive for you.
Larkspur is going to make someone a great horse and companion. She is regally bred, and has had a successful career as a broodmare. A pity she got dumped the way she did. But I know she'll bounce back quickly. Even in poor condition she is a beautiful lady.
PM me with the cost for the farrier and I'll send a check.

Yay! Thanks so much for the update and for the care and time you're giving her, CG. She *is* a regal mare - an ambassadrix for TBs in an Ay-rab world! And thanks for loaning her Draol's blanket and bringing it over to her, too. Is she a 78?
