Well, he's doing much better and feeling better. His abscess has cleared up (still on SMZs) and he finally got to go out in the pasture. Ran around like mad for awhile. I have to say he looked darn good for having a hole in one foot.
He continues to drink lots of water. He's gaining weight. He had his third bath yesterday. He's staring to shine. I haven't noticed the tremor again.
I turned him out with my filly yesterday. They got along great. He does not seem to know much about grazing but prefers to hang around the barn and eat hay. Today she chased him around the paddock for awhile, then took off into the pasture. He didn't follow. I think he feels insecure out in the open. The two of them later shared the shelter to get out of the rain. I think they're an "item" but she is definitely in charge.
He gets his teeth done Tuesday. Farrier touched up his fronts last week (no charge - such a nice guy).
I took more pictures. Will post when I get them loaded.

He looks so much better! You can see the life coming back in his eyes....I love the pic with his ears forward and then in the next pic - the one where he's wearing his shoulder guard - looks like he has an opinion about what he's wearing in that one based on his ears! Cute!

Okay, now I see where the image button is. I've been using the quick reply form. So here's his sweet face again:

Here is a note I received from Desert Spark's vet:
"Des" is making a lot of progress with Holly! He has put on a lot of weight and looks happy. We floated his teeth today -- he had some extremely sharp points and some very large hooks. He has some supernumary ("extra") incisors -- one was very loose which we extracted. The others should not cause him any problems. The abcess under his jaw is healing well but still had a small amount of pus coming from it today. We opened the abcess again and expressed what we could from it and placed some silversulfadiazine cream in it. Hopefully it will heal over now with no problems.
Big thanks to Holly for such good care!!
SAFE would also like to thank Holly's vet at Alpine Ridge Equine Hospital in Monument CO because she treated the abcess and extracted the tooth for no charge. So thank you to Dr Hinson for your generousity as well as your kindness to Des.
;D ;D
