Today I noticed something odd. Dez has a tremor in his right front leg. I had noticed his knee wobbling before, but this time I watched for awhile and felt muscle spasms in the upper limb. It seems to come and go. Any ideas what this might be?

Oddly enough, Aero had this as well. I believe the diagnosis was "over at the knee" but it was his knee that wobbled and had a tremor-could he be having spasms from compensating in the front from the abscess?
Aero also had one leg shorter than the other that could have contributed to the tremor-how is Dez's conformation in the front?

Hmm... I wouldn't say he's over at the knee. His lameness in the LF is very mild, so I don't think he's overcompensating. Maybe it's from being 300 pounds underweight, sick, and having to stand around most of the time. I'll ask the vet about it when she comes to do his teeth.

Well, it very well could have something to do with the things you mentioned-I would tremor too if I had to go through what he had gone through! I s'pose it could be a whole slew of reasons-I did some googling on it and really did not find anythng-
Perhaps just general weakness?

Holly, we were posting at the same time. Did you pay the vet or do we need to pay that one directly? Did you send Bonnie the same invoice I have?

Well that's JUST to get them to come out and say "hi". If they even glance at your horse, that's easily $100.

horsepoor, the address is on our website here: safehorses.org/safe/help.htmWe will make sure your donation goes to Sparky's expenses. I know Holly has some expenses she has paid for directly that we were going to reimburse her for. If you would prefer to mail checks directly to her that would be fine, just let us know so we can subtract that amount from what we send her.

I just sent Bonnie a copy of the second bill today, for the abscess, which was $212. I have paid it. This is a really nice new vet from Florida who just started there. I think maybe she was being nice (?). Trust me, they stick it to me whenever they get the chance But the trip charge is still only $35 with this particular clinic. My gelding's last two trips to a different clinic were > $700. When I haul him in they charge me for an office visit. Seems like they get you coming and going, no matter what.

Another thing I forgot to mention: Desi has fallen off the wagon (he's drinking again). Lots and Lots of water. Lots and lots of pee. But still eating like there's no tomorrow.
