Hey Ally!!! I am not sure on the details I am finalizing them with Barb's Admin now.......She has offered to do a 2 day clinic if we are interested. There is a discount for 2 days with the total being $395. It is possible to mix and match with some wanting to do groundwork one day and Centered Riding the next. Barb was a featured speaker at the Sally Swift Centered Riding Symposium in Vermont last year. I guess I need a show of hands on what people are interested in doing. The clinics are 6 hours long and we could certainly do more with her next year as well.

WLF - I think the 2 day sounds fabulous and would be interested in that if others are.

Would love to do the two day clinic, but if the clinic is relatively far from Lake Stevens, I just need to make sure I could swing it with everything else, i.e. child care/horse care...sounds like a wonderful opportunity.

Well here are the issues.......it will cost $250 for insurance to hold this at Jaime's place. This would mean little or no donations to SAFE as that expense would eat up the portion of the clinic that they would donate. .......Jaime is open to hosting it but we need to think about how to do this in the best way for all. We could brainstorm and maybe have a used tack sale or something to offeset those costs but that involves volunteers and more work and to be honest most of us are exhausted from the show still. Poor Bonnie is still dealing with her adventures she had. We could have it at Barb's but she will not have her arena covered until early next year and we are talking October in Washington so the weather could be iffy. I need to give Barb a deposit to finalize the date so we need to discuss this ASAP. We could add $30 apiece to offset the insurance costs(least effort option) or we could discuss the tack sale or advertising for auditors etc.....if we do a ground clinic perhaps we could open up to other rescues who deal with unhandled/ill behaved horses for auditor fees..... Please feel free to help brainstorm!

Honestely, my plate is full. A tack sale, etc. would be wonderful, but I am willing to pay the extra $30 to offset the insurance cost. I would also need to check with my other two friends who are participating and make sure they can do the two day clinic. I am more than happy with the one day groundwork clinic at this time as well. I love groundwork, and having to chose between one or the other, groundwork is my first preference.

Will you see if that is there preference and if they are okay with the $30 increase? I am checking with Barb to see if she has insurance that will cover us but I have not heard back yet.....so assume the increased cost is necessary......

I will see if they are open to doing one or two days and pay $30 extra to help cover insurance costs.

Good news.....Barb responded and she does have insurance that will cover us. So no additional charge. So I guess the next question is 1 or 2 days........this does NOT mean you can stable at Jaime's so arrangements will have to be made.....

Yes - I can maybe house one or two horses overnight but not 8. What we did for the 2-day clinic last year is reserved some stalls at the Fairgrounds. This was easy to do but I can't remember the cost - no one ended up using them anyway. Also, I am not going to be able to provide transportation as that just ran me ragged the last two events plus being the host and having house guests, so I ask that you arrange your own transportation. Otherwise I am HAPPY to host the clinic. Chelsea, will you make sure that Barb lists my farm as an additional insured?

Last year, stall rentals were $15/night at the fairgrounds, shavings provided - but one must bring their own buckets/feed pans. On-site trailer parking is available.
If there is interest, post it HERE and I'll call them again to reserve stalls.

Okay here is the latest
We have insurance and we will be doing the 6th and 7th. The 6th is groundwork and the 7th is centered riding.
We have Peri, Myself and Mara up for 2 days and 9 people for the 6th only. If anyone wants to audit the 2nd day to save funds it would be $30 and part will go to SAFE.
We need to submit to Barb ASAP $100 to hold the dates each. Her paypal is Horseplay1@barbapple.com please post when you have sent your money so I can keep track. Please list SAFE and the date/s you are sending money for in the "notes" section of the Paypal payment so we can keep track. If you wish to pay in full one day is $215 and 2 days is $395
Barb and I will be working to fill the 2nd day but please pass the word both about auditing and riding for those that are interested, there is room for 1 more on the 6th and up to 7 more on the 7th- we need at least 3 more on the 7th.
There is stabling available at the fairgrounds 20 minutes away, there is no hauling available so please consolidate trailer rides. Jaime has limited trailer parking, but there is parking at the fairgrounds so we could consolidate trailers if necessary.
We could use a volunteer to barbeque or to arrange box lunches or people can bring their own. I will provide beverages.

A few comments - does it make sense for SAFE to send the deposit money, collect the clinic fees, and pay Barb directly at the end of the clinic? I am unclear who is responsible for getting the deposit money to her and if something happened and we had to cancel I assume she would hold the deposit...?
The stabling is probably more like 10-15 minutes away, I am 5 miles from town where the fairgrounds are.

She would hold the deposit, but refund the balance. I was trying to avoid involving any effort on SAFE's part. ;D Remember I promised to not make your head hurt if you hosted ;D And I am trying to avoid paying the deposit myself and asking for reimbursement later as I have been burned on that one before . We have one person paying for 2 days today and I will be paying for 2 as well so the deposit will be covered. Barb is not sweating it at all....I am just trying to get our ducks in a row. Modified to add that once the deposit is in....people will be able to pay their fees up to the day of the clinic.....Barb will keep records of who has paid and will collect.
