I thought about that but if I'm going to do that - I might as well just spray them and not make them wear something. I'd really like something safe and a good barrier so I don't have to spray them - that stuff gets expensive over time...

I would try Mosquito Halt or Endure flyspray. the mosquito halt is especially good for the skeeters, and lasts 4-5 days. the Endure lasts at LEAST 10 days. It seems to build up protection, so I have been putting it on less and less frequently. It was 80 degrees and HOT at the barn today, all the horses were covered with flys except Lady, who had her last flyspray application 2 weeks ago!! Seriously the Endure is the best stuff I have ever used! It is in no way natural, but it WORKS ... and since the princess Lady gets welts if a fly so much as lands on her, she must have only the best.....
