He's pretty close to normal. Even though they are suppose to be on stall rest - I let them out to the paddock for all today rather than the 10 minutes I have been letting him go the past few days. A reward for all of their hard work on stall rest!

So Gala - did your clinic come up with a name for him? We are still stuck with Shoqinah (Shock-n-Awe)...let me know what fabulous names you came up with! The vet is coming for a check today - hopefully the boy will get out to play!

He's free for the pasture now! Vet said his legs are perfect! ;D I let him go out with Dancey and the yearling they are staying with and that did not go so well. Mom ran and ran, she was so excited and Shoqinah couldn't keep up. He got so tired I had to catch her and bring them back into their stall and paddock so he could rest. Next time I'll try to turn Dancey out first to get her need to run out of her before I let him out to join her. They got along great with the yearling who was very happy to have friends in his pasture.

Excellent news! That is so great!
Mom will settle down, wasn't she stall-bound all of that time with him? She must have been totally stircrazy.

Mom has been stall bound and I am suprised how well she did. However, she REALLY prefers being out to being in! I'm sure she will calm down, I just have to ease them back into the turn out mode!
I have photos I will put up of his first time out. He hasn't been out of the stall only or stall/paddock area since he was 4 days old and he's now 2 1/2 months!

I have to admit EVERYONE loved him! More than that they LOVED his name - we spent a couple hours (as a group) discussing this 'condition'...it is very common, and you did it exactly right in how it should be addressed!! Peri he is an awesome baby. The clinic was EXCELLENT and if anyone has a chance to attend one - go! The cost was $260 (plus we had to pay for our hotel rooms etc) but as pricey as it sounds I can't stress enough the knowledge you leave with. Natural Hoof Care

Aren't my legs pretty! Halter time - I get to go outside! Doesn't my green halter from Auntie Gala look fabulous! And they're off! and off and off still! Mommy I'm tired! Maverick (my neighbor's yearling) asking if Shoqinah is okay! After that it was catch Dancey and bring them back in for rest!

Shoqinah is home! We took a three day transition time with each horse in my herd spending a day in the pasture with Dancer and Shoq before I brought him home. Tonight, I led him over and let him loose! It was 5 minutes of run around with Dancer, Shoq, Azalea and Skittles while Quest stood at the gate waiting for food!
Azalea LOVES the baby...and mommy does not like Azalea. But Azalea keeps on persisting, walking as close as she can, eating from the hay pile next to them, sniffling and nuzzling him when she can get close enough. She must have been a wonderful mother and is very happy to have another baby around.
I just checked on them and the 4 horses (well 3 horses and a pony) are contentedly munching their hay and Shoqinah is sprawled out on a soft pile of hay himself snoring. ;D
