yes, we have a date and a location for the show! It will be held at Bridle Trails State Park in Bellevue WA on August 23rd. This is a terrific venue for a show - large outdoor arena with great footing, an attached warmup arena and another arena for trails. Plus it's a beautiful park with miles of riding trails. information on the park, including photos: www.bridletrails.org/the_park.htmNow that we have a date set, it's time to start the hunt for sponsors. I'll be putting together a package that you can use. If everyone could ask one local business to sponsor, we'd be set!

SHould we use the same class lists as the last show? It might be fun to add a hunter hack class, if we have a judge that's qualified.. THere are many facilities in the BT area that are H/J so I wonder if we should mail show info the specific facilities?

I think we can use last years class list as a starting point, and add classes as we'd like. I'd love to include a hunter hack as well. We should probably think about how many western classes we want to include, since it's a pretty english area.
Getting a judge is going to be the next big task.

Shekaberry is going to be the co-chair for this show, and I thank her in advance for all her help! She was the one who set up the venue for this year's show, and it was her idea to try for Bridle Trails in the first place. ;D

Wow, the things I miss when I take about a week to get other things in order!
I'd really like to take the trails classes again this year if it's ok with everyone else out there. I understand if we get ahold of someone more qualified, but I have some ideas for the trails course this year.

cool Jaime, thanks! You two look fantastic by the way! Crystal, the trails job is yours, for sure!! You did a terrific job last year, I can't wait to see what you come up with given some actual planning time. The park has trail equipment we can rent so I'll try to find out what that entails, and I will double check the dimensions of the arena for you. I wonder, do they ever hold trails classes on actual trails? Because there will be no shortage of trails available.

That was our very last show. He wasn't very comfortable there, and came up lame shortly after that, forcing us to scratch the Beaujolais. *sigh*...maybe someday I'll be out there again..I do miss it!

I wonder, do they ever hold trails classes on actual trails? Because there will be no shortage of trails available. You know, if there was some way I could make it work, I'd do it. The only problem would be me being able to judge what's happening on the trail. I suppose that's why they do it in an arena though. So is there someone close to Bridle Trails (trillium is way down in Oregon) that has goats or some other kind of farm animal I'll be able to use this year? That part of the course got a LOT of good comments last year, and I think that's a great test to put a "seasoned" trail horse through.

It's hard to show and do rescue. Rescue is such a money vaccuum. I definitely have a goal to take a break from the rescuing and get back into the show ring before I wake up one day and realize, oops, I'm 75 years old and I never did it. I finally have a good enough horse that's worth spending the money to campaign properly, and I'm really looking forward to it.

I may have some chickens come August, but I don't know if they will be big enough.
