Hello everyone. I am new to the board and just thought I would give a little discription.
While time is not permitting me having a horse right now, (I work fulltime, go to school fulltime, and have a 21 month old daughter) my OTTB was not getting the time she deserved so I found her a wonderful home with one of my old students. I would love to help out in anyway I can. I live in Mason county, but work in Kitsap county so if there is anything that needs to be done, give me a shout and I will do my best to help.
I think it is amazing what you guys have done from what I have read so far. And I am pleased that I might be able to be a part of helping out. I have rescued horses in the past so I know that what is happening here is the best thing for these horses.

I've been lurking awhile but just noticed this thread.
I run a guinea pig rescue out of Auburn, WA. I get lots of help and support from my family, and donations occasionally from wonderful people! I have a room built into the loft of my barn that's heated and air conditioned--it's often where you'll find me, listening to the pigs munching hay and listening to the horses munching their hay down in their stalls. So far I'm an independent rescue--I haven't decided whether to go for my non-profit status yet. Most of the guinea pigs I get are owner surrenders, but occasionally work with the local shelters on large scale rescues (for example, I recently took in 23 from a neglect case in Idaho).
Oh yes, I have horses, too! I used to raise and show minis, but now they are just my pets, and all 14 here to stay for the rest of their lives. I have a few "big horses" too--a Welsh pony, an Arab Welsh pony, and an Arab mare. Oh, and I adopted a rescue horse this past summer as well, from CBER--her name is Dusty, and I haven't a clue what breed she is!
Many of my horses are old girls, and so I'm dealing with all the stuff that comes with age--IR, Cushing's, dental problems. I love my old girls!
I think what you do here is wonderful.
Lisa

Hi Lisa, I'm glad to see you post, and I'm really happy Dusty is with you. I've always wanted a guinea pig, but with the 5 cats, I fear a bit dangerous around here.

I know most of you already from long ago, but Hello Everyone! My name is Megan and I was involved with CBER from 2005-06. In September 2005 I adopted the lovely but skinny "Stewart", a bay Arabian gelding with a freezebrand (his registered name is Baskovia if you want to check out his pedigree). Then CBER dropped off the radar for me...and I came on over here! Ben's first week home, September 2005: Ben in the pasture after a dust bath, Summer 2006 at 22: Here he is, after a bath, late summer 2007 at the age of 23 1/2: I also met Ginger, Ishmael, Kona, and a few others when they were all bunk buddies up in Elma at Clayton's. In February 2007, I adopted Magpie, a sad little mare who was going to be run through the auction. We rehabbed and with a lot of leg work and interviewing, I was able to find her the perfect home with a horsewoman in Cottage Grove. It turns out she is most likely part of the Ebony strain of small Tennessee Walkers that were bred in the valley in the early '90s. Her new owner adores her and has informed me that she does perform the running walk! I have plans with her to go out when the trails dry and see the little girl in action. She also lives on the 6 acre farm with two young quarter horse fillies...and has apparently adopted the 7-month-old as her own. Here's Maggie, now "Sierra", after rehab (you can see her thread in "Other Rescues" for before fotos): Ben and Maggie in the pasture: We also have Chevelle, a 2-year-old Joe Hancock/Doc O'Lena bred Quarter Horse filly. We made the mistake of going to the auction...it was late summer, August, so there were no kill buys, thank god. Anyway, somehow we came home with Chev, for the princely sum of $235. She is a big goof. And has very crooked front legs. She'll just be a pleasure horse--with legs like that, she screams "light trail horse". She has a great mind and likes to eat tarps and cones. She doesn't turn an honest 3 until May, so her real training won't begin until then. We also have two cats: Meeka, Keelan's cat, was a stray, and is now a six-year-old grey and white whining machine. My cat, Chaton ("Chat"), was starving for want of a $8 bottle of antibiotics at a local pet store. I offered to take her not knowing what was wrong and fearing the worst...she was easily cured, and now she's my two-year-old eating machine! Meeka (grey and white) and Chat (tabby): And when mine was still a kitten: Anyway, that's my family!

Megan! So, this is what you were doing while I was freezing at the barn! I love the 2nd picture of Chev. She looks great! Kitties are cute, too.

Hi all. I guess I should have started here. I found CBER in...late 2005, I guess. Adopted several throughout 2006 and 2007, along with some local rescues, and have been able to place a few. I'm now "down" to seven horses (about to be 8. Junie is preggers), 2 dogs, 2 cats and one rabbit. All but the dogs and two horses were rescues/orphans.
Love seeing everyone's pictures. Thanks for sharing. I am ljbrooks everywhere I go, so if you see me on RO or somewhere else, that's me. :-)

Hello! I figured I'd join in the fun My name is Christina and I'm owned by 1 dog currently. Moved to the Tricities after getting my degree in Animal Science from WSU! If anyone needs help in the TC area with horses, dairy or small animals I'm happy to help in any capacity I can (unfortunately that capacity doesn't include owning more dogs yet : \ I can't even foster my landlord is a stickler and does monthly drive bys!) I don't own a horse - yet! Once I get a job we're going to look to buy an older "been there done that" horse for me to relearn (it's been 7+ years!) and my boyfriend to learn on - and we intend on boarding at a barn with a trainer and not doing things on our own. I'm almost embarrassed to say that I donated $100 to CBER this past Christmas as a "group" Christmas present to my family. It was shortly after I found "cat67"'s blog from a livejournal user and when she posted a link to Isabelle and Pie's plight I discovered you! I would love to be involved as much as I can be! Ok I wrote a book, but hi! Oh and as a self stint - if anyone needs paid help in TC area I am still looking for work! We can discuss my exact experience and schooling, but as I mentioned I'm comfortable around cattle, horses and small animals. If I'm not allowed to pimp myself out just delete this part Edit: This is Arya
