It's really nice to see a video of her! Thanks, Monica, and thanks Shekaberry for riding her and updating so frequently. She reminds me of an old field hunter I knew; I love to watch her progress.

I had the coolest experience last evening as I was working Cedar out in the field at Julies place. We were walking the fenceline that borders a wetland and from out behing a thatch of blackberries comes a beautiful buck! Cedar stared at him like he was an alien and he stared at us, then continued on munching on leaves and wandering about. Cedar and I started walking the fenceline in the other direction and he followed!!
That was so cool, seeing this animal not 12 feet from me. Only on horses, I swear!

That would have been VERY cool. And points to Cedar for being so cooperative at a time when a lot of TBs would have flipped out.

I did find out today what freaks her out a bit -- a bulldog tied in a roundpen! I couldn't figure out what had her spooking and snorting at first.
You know, all things considered, I find bulldogs a little freaky too, though mostly sweet - although with a dog on wheels, I shouldn't be talking... it was the surprise factor, I guess. We moved on to the field instead. Some things are just against nature.
Cedar loves Wally the Starling though!

I got to ride Cedar again last evening, I swear I can't believe she hasn't been adopted. She has a tendancy to lean on your hands and rush when she gets going, but is easy to bring back. She canters nicely to the left, still needs some work on her right lead, and she likes trotting over the poles I put out for her!

10 days patiently waiting for the next update... getting anxious for a fix. Can't wait to hear more about Cedar!

Well, actually, Julie was going to ride Cedar yesterday, noticed she was in a funny mood, and was off at the trot, she believes from the hip or stifle area (on the left, as I recall) Cedar was cheerful in her stall - obviously not in any real distress - I don't think it is something serious. Hopefully nothing more than a pulled muscle, but Julie will be monitoring her and conferring with Jaime on whether Dr. Hannah needs to be called.

After some days off, Cedar was back at work this evening with Alison. I was riding Willy, and Earl's leasor Jessica was riding too. With three thoroughbreds swirling around the field, it felt like the warmup area at a three-day event. Then Whiskey came down to join us with Julie in a Western saddle and eventually we took a "trail ride" across dried up Riley Slough and up to the back field. The first one to cross sends a bunch of freaked out frogs jumping every which way!
Cedar was absolutely fine - whatever was bothering her last week was minor, fortunately.

Cedar did well, she had a hard time concentrating on me with the other horses around her, so I kept her on big circles at the end of the field and we worked on transistions and keeping a nice steady tempo.
She was pretty energetic since she had some time off after showing some "offness" and I didn't lunge her before getting on, but she walked off on a loose rein and took some big, deep breaths and was pretty relaxed until a big yellow dog came into view. Then the head goes up and she starts to dance around nervously. I don't think Cedar likes dogs much.
Initially, she balked at walking across the slough; so I dismounted, led her across and hopped back up and rode around the field with Julie and Whiskey. She was fine out there, just looking around and walking nicely. She walked over the slough fine once we headed back to the barn.
She is more of a chicken that I thought she was!!

I worked Cedar again last evening and she did very well. Monica was there and got some video of her trotting and helped me work on keeping Cedar flowing forward and reaching down for the bit. Boy can you feel it when she starts to use her back!!
All are in for a treat when she shows what a Queen she is at the upcoming SAFE show!

I'm surprised she hasn't already been snatched up since the show. Are there still prospects in the work for her?
