What a shame about Shell Game. She was a nicely balanced mare (and could well be pregnant in that picture, couldn't she, contributing to the full-bodied impression?).
Thanks for sending the pictures, asb2.

Is the filly Dazzling Treasure (the buckskin with a black tail) that you are looking for the daughter of Sultan's Sundazzled? She was b/w pinto. This is so sad. The old mares Autumn Haze RKR, Impromptu DHF, Shell Game, and Sultan's Sundazzled were all in their teens, and probably could not survive being pregnant and starved.

This is the other filly, Dazzling Treasure that has been discussed here per the email from asb2 And a couple of who is believed to be Emma's sire, Seas the Golden Day Per asb2: This is a photo of the foal Dazzling Treasure according to emails and phone calls with Jean. The mare is mostly black and a pinto. She is Sultan's Sundazzled. I am not sure of her or the foals where abouts...I had lost contact with Jean regarding purchasing any horses around the end of September due to family health and the coming of winter with all our duties to handle. At the time all looked great including the DVD of the stallion and horses I received and no indication of poor care.

I have some photos of the horses that were on the Monroe pasture November 2006, when I met Coconut. There was a paint mare and I blew up a photo of her that I brought with me to the Candle-lite vigil. I have those photos at home but my computer took a nose dive yesterday. (I'm on my laptop) but I'm pretty sure I have those photos in my walmart photo album because I had them printed. I'll see if I can get those moved over to photo bucket and get it posted. Jean told me she bred Arabs and Saddlebreds but when I didn't see many Arabs on the pasture & questioned her about her Arab program, she told me they were at *home*. It's my understanding that she moved to Carnation last fall so I'm sure she moved horses around but maybe someone can tell from the photo who this mare might be. While it's heart breaking to think Coconut's pasturemates died, I think it would honor them to find out who they were, if it's possible.

Thanks for sending the pictures, asb2. Sad to say she could have been as I saw footage of Sea in the same pasture as Shell and their filly Song. Just kills me!

The filly was out of the black and white mare Sultan's Sundazzled. I am hoping she was sold to a good home since she was not in the groups found. This is all so very sad...

Thanks for sending the pictures, asb2. This was such an early photo she would not show so much...but in the footage Sea was running in the pasture too...A super sweet disposition and good with the other. Re: Thank you ... pics do help that is for sure.

Those pictures just seemed to make the horror of this situation real. Nothing short of serious jail time would be appropriate given the suffering those poor horses endured as they slowly died of starvation.

These photos might not pertain to Emma and feel free to move them somewhere, but these were Coconut's pasture mates. I do not know exactly what happened to them and in my heart I hope they found other homes before times got really bad for them but it causes me great sorrow to think they might not have made it. I wish I knew who they are/were...I honor them regardless Coconut's pasture mates: Paint Mare Appy Mare Grey Arab Mare Someone was helping me search the Arab registry; there was a horse that could be Coconut & if it was, this could be her sister...but it's all anyone's guess!? Here's one of what I was told was the Stallion/Gelding herd that was kept in what I call the front pasture (Coconut and the other mares were in the back pasture, separated by a small river and some barbed wire ). There were some really beautiful horses there, even though they were not well cared for, grooming-wise.(or any other-wise as we now know) At the time they all seemed in pretty good weight but, as I know from Coconut, it wasn't exactly healthy weight. Grass only! The pictures aren't exactly clear because I only had a 3.2 mega pixel camera at the time and these were pretty much in the background of closer photos I took of Coconut. The herd photo was actually one I took, intending to capture the front pasture...it wasn't until I zoomed in that I was able to make out the horses. At least there's some record of them.

The first pinto appears to be the mare that was Emma's dam, posted on page 2: I was told that there was a brown leapard Appy mare that died, that second picture looks to be her.

OMG, I moved a horse out of there just before the holidays last year, a mare that was being boarded there and had gotten injured on the BW. She was not healing well and the owner moved her to Mill Creek. I wanted to take that buckskin horse so bad, please tell me someone knows where he is, he was so beautiful. This was the second time that I had taken horse off that property, the first time was a couple years ago when a friend started to board there and learned that there was no water available except the creek which was a way back. I could not believe the nasty bunch of barb wire that was used to fashion a "gate" at that time. Lucky for my friend and her horses that she decided after 1 night that Jean's place was no place for a horse and I went to pick them up. ...oh what I would do to have taken that Buckskin.....

So, since these pictures were reportedly taken last summer/fall and the horses all appear to be in a decent weight, is it just that Jean provided no hay in the winter? One of the posts said that the horses were grass fed only. That won't do much good in the winter months, especially the winter we just had (OK...the one we're STILL having!).
Does anyone know what actually happened? It seems these horses had a VERY sudden decline in weight to the point that they literally starved to death. Did she somehow figure they could eat grass in the winter???

Sorry Alyssa, I have absolutely nothing on the buckskin being among the survivors... Whitewolf - my understanding is that there was a long established pattern of erratic or no feeding of hay in winter, and hay was often very poor quality. The horses were on huge pastures and did well in spring and summer, then in the winter they had to fend for themselves. This year I would warrant a guess they did not get fed at all this winter.
