Dutchess is a pretty Palomino Saddlebred (or Saddlebred cross) mare from the Carnation seizure, who SAFE has recently taken on after spending the last two weeks with Equine Aid. This young pretty mare is thin, but not as bad as Hope or Willow. Her feet were pretty bad, all have been trimmed as of yesterday. Dutchess is a total love bug of a mare and loves people and attention. She loaded like a champ today and patiently waited for Annie to get in the trailer, which took about an hour. She's now in a foster home in Sultan with her buddy Annie. Pictures to come!

Wow... the bruising looks awful. Poor girl. Can't wait to see her a year from now!

Any updates on Dutchess? She was always my girl at Geri's.

I had a short visit with Dutchess today as I had to meet with the Defense and Prosecuting attorneys for the Elledge case for a photo session. Dutchess looks wonderful, but I have to say it, she looks pretty pregnant to me. Especially when I compare what I saw to the pictures above. She's not big like Hope is, but she's definately a lot bigger than she was when she came, and Annie in comparison has gained a more reasonable amount of weight.

Hi, While not actually impossible that she could foal at 2 yrs, you may want to revise or re-examine the age of this filly, and check her markings?
As far as I know, this filly is unaccounted for:
MIDSUMMER’S EVE 2004 PALOMINO
IRREGULAR STAR, CONNECTED STRIPE AND SNI TOUCHING LEFT NOSTRIL TO UPPER LIP, RIGH FRONT PASTERN, LEFT FRONT SOCK HIGHER IN BACK, LEFT HIND STOCKING, WHITE.
By SEAS THE GOLDEN DAY ex OLYMPIC SPIRIT(BAY ’84) by SPECIAL SPIRIT(CHESTNUT)
Possible?
Not every Saddlebred is average horse size, I've seen 13 HH and near 18 HH individuals, not runts or giants, but happy genetic combinations labeled throwbacks to some of the varied ancestry of the colonial stock that went into the breed. The 'ponies' are so popular in the southeastern US that there is a division for them.
So now she is eating for 2! Hopefully it was a late breeding and she has some time.

LOL...it took me a while to find that "unfortunate" misspelling. ;D She is not Midsummer's Eve - as this is the horse that is owned by one of our adopters (Benny/Vivian's adopter). See photos here: I believe that Dutchess is in fact a 2006 filly and is an Arab/Saddlebred cross named "Seas Final Furry" (I am going to assume it was misspelled in the registry and should be "Fury") as this palomino filly is listed as owned/bred by Jean in the Half-Arabian registry.

Gosh how sad that she has to foal at such a young age; her growth will really be set back. Maybe the hybrid vigor will help. At least she will be happy and cared for.
Glad you have Identified her (almost for sure). The shoulder on the filly does look Arab (pardon me for saying, but on average they are more well laid back than the average SB shoulder)

Well, I am glad you think she might be a cross, because in looking at the pictures again I am not really seeing the Arab in her. That said, this is the only horse shown as owned by Jean in either the Arab or Saddlebred registries that matches. Perhaps she is purebred, but unregistered? Another possiblity.

Small world that one of SAFE's adopters has a filly out of Seas the Golden Day. Looks like he has some nice babies running around

I'll vote: NO
(hope I'm right for her sake) I think she is going through a chunk-up phase after finishing a lengthening-out phase. She won't even be recognizable as the same filly in a month or 2 compared to her first, rather long bodied pictures. If she grows into those nice lower legs she will be quite a lovely gal.

I hope so, but I also know none of those pictures really show how big she is.
