Little Miss is available for adoption now. Adoption fee is $600. She is located in Duvall WA. If you are interested in adopting Missy, please look over the SAFE Adoption Policies, and then fill out and submit an adoption application. Once we have an application in hand, we will set up a time for you to meet the horse. Adoption policies and applications can be found here: www.safehorses.org/about/policies.html

Hi there - this is Little Miss Dolce's new foster mom in Duvall. Little Miss has only been here a short time but she has settled in quickly and has been quiet and relaxed about most everything. She immediately established herself as the alpha over my own two mares. But she has not been harsh with it - no major drama or biting or kicking. She totally loves to be groomed - today she ignored my other two horses cantering about in the field right behind her - she chose to stay with me for more grooming, instead of playing with them. She seems to really like being with people. I've done a little ground work with her in the round pen and I agree - she is really a quick learner and very focused on her handler. Julie did a fantastic job teaching her manners - she has been very easy to handle. Someone is going to get a super horse!

Welcome Janice! Little Miss is just Little Miss, Dolce is another horse that came in with Little Miss and Cedar from the same seizure. Thank you so much for fostering her and for coming out and helping me today with the horses (and with loading Tessa, my naughty "little" filly)

Thanks for the welcome to the board - and of course you are most welcome for the help. Doesn't seem like much when I see how much you've taken on yourself there. That much daily mucking alone would probably do me in!
Here's an update on Little Miss. Her manure is finally starting to get solid. It is about 2/3 of the way back to normal. The Panacur Julie gave her must have done the trick. I put her in the round pen today and we practiced moving off fingertip pressure - forequarters and rearquarters, both sides. She did great, was yielding freely from a light touch. I took her for a walk also. She encountered our neighborhood sneak attack dog - that is invisible as he crashes through the bushes toward the street and then barks like crazy at the fence. She got pretty worried and danced around, but never pulled on the lead at all - stayed right with me. When she realized what it was, she was quite willing to walk over toward it and give it BIG snort.
Here's a note to all who were working on getting her going under saddle - I have a round pen here and you would be welcome if you want to come do some work with her now and then. Just send me a PM. Thanks, Janice

I posted about Little Miss in the blog today, including a couple of pictures of her in new home with Janice. blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/horsebytes/archives/134251.asp I was impressed with how relatively little anxiety Little Miss showed at the move, considering the lather she worked herself into the first time we took Cedar away from her. I guess it is easier to be the one that leaves! Nice to meet another Safer in person too.

[/quote] OK all, I'm going to try to post a picture of Little Miss but I don't know if it will work. This was taken a couple of days ago.

So much better weight wise! Now she just needs muscle. I like how her neck is set on - she definitely won't be one of the high-headed TB's with their ears in your face.

Here is a nice little portrait of her. She is such a "people" horse. She follows me around looking for that shedding blade - her favorite thing! Yes, she really needs muscle and I think will be quite stunning then. She does test a little occasionally to see if I am still the leader - but quickly backs off and then is good as gold.

Just another quick update. I took Little Miss on another long walk around the neighborhood. She was excellent - no weight in the rope ever. She was so interested in everything! She has been very relaxed in her stall, but I keep it open to the paddock 24-7 so she never feels confined. That seems to be what she needs. No banging on the walls either and her little calluses are closed up and healing nicely.

That is just how she was the couple times I rode her! Energetic and interested in her surroundings, but not spooky or nervous. She will be great with more miles and muscle!

I know, every time I see her I think we should take up a collection to buy her a fake tail before summer!
