Ripley's Horse Aid Foundation horses needing homes
Ripley's Horse Aid Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit equine neglect prevention organization. We have assisted a Roy farm, along with the Pegasus Foster Program, that relinquished many Arabian horses in the past few months, including three that were seized by Animal Control. Many have been adopted, but more good homes are needed to re-home the remaining five mares. Please see our Facebook page for more information, pictures and video.

We are a 100% volunteer organization, and are endorsed by, and have assisted Pierce County Animal Control. There is a $200 adoption fee and a site visit is required. All horses are up-to-date on worming and vaccinations. Three of the horses are located in Puyallup, and two are located in Spanaway. The following horses are available:
LUCY: 5 year old chestnut mare, beautiful head and very athletic. 14 hands. Nice mover with great legs and feet. Would make a great endurance horse for a smaller rider. Out of a Bey Shah daughter.
DUCKY: 4 year old grey mare that was kept in a small dark stall for a very long time with little handling. Her feet had curled into a "slipper-foot" She is so beautiful and elegant, she loves attention! Currently in training. Her hooves are normal looking and she doesn't appear to have any permanent damage from her ordeal. 14.1 hands.
HONEY: 3 year old chestnut mare that is craving attention. Gentle and sweet, she will be very easy to train to saddle. Good feet and legs.. endurance maybe? She is about 14 hands.
Lucy, Ducky, and Honey need to be rehomed by Sunday 6/20 and the following two need to be rehomed within the following two weeks.
STORM: 10 year old grey mare used as a broodmare. She is a sweetheart and very loving. She is currently at Silverwing Stables in Spanaway, you can call Victoria at 253-539-9814. 14.22 hands
RAPUNZAL: Pretty dark bay 18 year old mare used as a broodmare. Huge black eye, and named for her long thick tail. 14 hands. Also at Silverwing Stables- 253-539-9814.

All the photos of Honey and Lucy are of them together. The flaxen haired chestnut with the blaze is Honey and the normal red chestnut with the star is Lucy.

STORM: 10 year old grey mare used as a broodmare. She is a sweetheart and very loving. She is currently at Silverwing Stables in Spanaway, you can call Victoria at 253-539-9814. 14.22 hands. She's a 10 year old flea bitten grey mare needing adoptive home. Her barn name is Storm for the swirling greys of her coat that evoke the movement of the heavy clouds before a squall. Storm is gentle and good natured, but has not been trained to ride. She can be haltered, tied, led, groomed and trailered. She is quite herd-bound to the mare she came in with (Rapunzel), but with time and human contact, she should be able to overcome her fears. Her ground manners are lacking and she is skittish probably due to lack of handling, but she her sweet nature is beguiling and everyone who meets her is charmed by her inquisitiveness and her huge, liquid eyes. Storm needs an experienced horseperson to help her learn to trust people and behave as a polite horse should. It will take some work and some time, but she will be well worth the effort.
RAPUNZAL: Pretty dark bay 18 year old mare used as a broodmare. Huge black eye, and named for her long thick tail. 14 hands. Also at Silverwing Stables- 253-539-9814. Rapunzel is an18 year old Bay mare who was named for her beautiful long tail. Rapunzel is very attached to Storm, but is friendly and gentle. She can be haltered, tied, groomed, led and trailered. She is not hard to catch and is always interested in visitors, coming up to see them and standing quietly for handling and readily picking up her feet when asked.Rapunzel has lovely movement and has obviously been taught ground manners in the past.
