We are listing Kayo on behalf of Julie Boulter, who is currently providing training and fostering of three SAFE horses. Kayo is the product of a CBER rescue mare that she took on last year, not knowing the mare was pregnant. Kayo is currently 5 1/2 months old. Kayo is halter-broke and has had regular foot care - three trims so far. He is up-to-date with worming and vaccinations (I need to check which ones he's had). He is most likely quarab (1/4 arab and 3/4 quarter horse). He is very friendly and curious and has been handled since birth. He leads and will move away from pressure. He will stand to be groomed. I am planning to have him gelded as soon as fly season is over (October) and will wean him before that.Photos of Kayo: Kayo is located in Monroe, WA. Adoption Fee: $500

I had the pleasure of meeting this boy at Jaime's on Sunday. He is sweet, very easy to handle, and cute, cute cute!

I've changed his thread - this colt is black, not dark bay, and he's beautiful! I have some new photos and video to upload soon!

Kayo is a super laid back lil guy. His color is quite striking too, black with a bit of chrome. He is a sturdy, level headed guy who is as sweet as they come!

Kayo is now a gelding! There was a little scare there for a moment when Hannah couldn't find one of the testicles after she laid him down. The clock was ticking and she kept grabbing for it and it kept slipping away. Thankfully FINALLY she got a hold of it, and the rest of the gelding was uneventful. Hannah is experimenting with a closed gelding procedure with both Kayo and Scotti. Rather than leave the incision open as is typically done with gelding procedures, which allows for foreign matter to get inside the wound and often leads to infection, swelling, etc., she inserted some packing macking material in the empty scrotom with betadine (this was not needed on Scotti, just on Kayo), closed the incision, and left a drain tube in. We shall see how their recovery goes...worst case scenario she will have to go and open them back up again, but we are hopeful that maybe this will minimize the need for forced exercise. For now, they are both sharing a stall for 24 hours post surgery and then they will go back outside. Here is some photos of Kayo, taken about a month ago:

She goes by the name Cricket now but I am not sure if that was her lot name or not.

Awwww, he's so cute! I remember him from weaning day, he was very well behaved, especially given the circumstances (weaning, trailer ride, etc...) He's very sweet tempered & he looks like he's got a sensible look to him! Great photos
