Bandit is doing well at his new boarding facility. He has a peaceful relationship across the fence with the arab geldings next to him and he is a perfect gentleman with the barn owners.
I brought him a tub of horse treats for a Christmas present last week and he loves his treats. Once he realized I had treats in my pocket, he wouldn't be further than 2 feet away from me. We ran around the pasture and I made him stop and back up to get a treat - so he had a little training session and a play time.

Such a handsome boy... I'm surprised no one has snatched him up!

Bandit is soon going to a new home on a trial where he will (cross your fingers) become best friends with Charlie the alpaca!
His new owners are very excited to get him - send "like the alpacac" thoughts his way! ;D

Well, even if it doesn't work out, I am hoping of pictures of him w/the alpaca. I've seen the looks on the face of a horse who DOESN'T like his alpaca... and it's priceless.
I am VERY hopeful for Bandit though. He deserves the best! ;D

Any word on if Bandit finally has his own family?

Yes, Bandit went out on a trial to test his alpaca-friendliness and the family has decided that he is a keeper. So Bandit has a wonderful new home!

This Sunday's work party was joined by Miss Alicia Thomas, who adopted Bandit. It was very nice to be able to spend some time with her and get to know her a bit better. She reports that Bandit is doing very well in his new home. He is getting along well with Charlie the Alpaca, and they hang out together except at mealtimes when they are separated. We're grateful to Alicia and her family for providing Bandit with a good home, as well as one of the more unusual placements we've made to date. Perhaps Alpaca Pals is a niche market we should look into...

My bet is that Bandit likes having the buddy. He came to us after spending quite a bit of time with Pockets, so he's probably used to slightly smaller companions!

Bandit's adopter made the decision to euthanize Bandit about 3 weeks ago. This winter was very hard on him, he was having issues with founder, thrush and chronic diarrhea. Alicia was having to rehome his best buddy Charlie the alpaca and he was extremely bonded to him and aggressive to other llamas, so her and her vet felt it was best to euthanize him. RIP Bandit.
