From the owner:
I am looking for a permanent, loving home for my two horses, Bandit and Pockets. They really love each other and want to stay together (but will consider separating them). My financial situation and lifestyle changes have made it unrealistic for me to keep them, even at the reasonably-priced boarding facility in Bothell where they currently live. When I adopted them, I owned my home and my job was set, but my lifestyle has changed. Now, all of my extra money goes toward their care and I can never save up enough money to financially take care of myself or them. There has just got to be a great family out there, with better circumstances than mine, who would provide a loving permanent home for these wonderful animals.
Bandit
Bandit is a 15-year-old paint Quarter horse gelding. He stands 15 hands high, and despite a conformation defect in his back, is a beautiful and solid horse. He has never had any health problems of any kind. He is perfectly rideable and loves to go trail riding, according to his previous owners, however **HE MUST WEAR SHIN GUARDS EVERY TIME HES TRAILORED** as he has a tendency to paw and scrape himself up. He is very gentle, although he doesnt have the best herd manners. He tends to crowd humans and get beat up by aggressive horses, because he wont yield. Regular groundwork does wonders to make him respect authority figures better. This horse is truly amazing. He is extremely brave and friendly. I have never seen him startle or spook at anything and hes always trusting of new people and horses. I have ridden him all over the pasture with just a bareback pad, a halter, and two lead ropes as reins. Hes going to need a little conditioning before he can be active again, as hes pretty much been a pasture pet since I adopted him in 2004. He loves to go into a stall to get out of the weather, but he does not want to be couped up in a small paddock or stall for long periods (days/weeks on end). This horse really needs his turnout to stay mellow and well behaved. He comes with a blanket, a saddle, a bridle, a halter, a bareback pad, a lead rope, a rope for longing, shin guards, and a foam adaptor to bridge the gap between his back and the saddle. He is currently on pellets, but eats the equivalent of 2-4 flakes per day, depending on pasture conditions.
Neither of these horses has ever bitten or showed one aggressive tendency toward humans or other horses. They have had the luxury of open spaces and gentle handling by me, which makes them very trusting and non-neurotic animals. I have seen both of them be the dominant horse and the low horse. They both behave well in either case. They have both been around goats, large dogs, barn cats, small children, and have always behaved like perfect gentlemen with all. I just cant say enough great things about these horses. They will make lovely companions for the right person or family. They are available to a GREAT home and I will want to screen potential adopters to ensure that that is the case. It would be lovely if I could arrange to visit with them from time to time.
